you didnt state the cameras were IP addressable...are they? brand of camera, and which security DVR you were using. Most DVRs wont or dont use the router as it doesnt rotate or change the picture, but I dont know which one you have. Most instead they use a multiplexer .

u no need to worry about the subnet mask 255.255.0.0
just do the following connections

1. connect a utp cable from modem/router to dlink switch.
   
2. connect a utp cable from switch to ur pc

Assign ur pc manually with following configuration

ip: 192.168.100.5
subnet: 255.255.255.0
gateway: 192.168.100.1

and your router with ip: 192.168.100.1 And enable pppoe in ur router.

Thats it you are connected to internet. No need to enable ics etc.

i think the problem is not on the switch but its in your pc configuration . . please check ur static addresses . . that kind of switch is simple as link or passage way it doesn't matter if you are dynamic or static configured . .

No, a "driver" for the switch is not necessary, and will not help.

Instead, buy a "router" (with or without wireless capability), and rewire your network:

Cable-modem -> Ethernet-cable -> WAN-port on router

LAN-port-#1 on router -> Ethernet-cable -> Computer #1
LAN-port-#2 on router -> Ethernet-cable -> Computer #2

Turn the cable-modem off.

Turn the cable-modem on.

Turn the router on, to get one IP-address from your ISP.

Restart each computer, to get new IP-addresses for each computer.

Within the web-browser on each computer, disable "auto detect proxy".

Is the modem a DSL or cable model?
Does the router have one ethernet port and a WAN port?
Normally the broadband modem is connected to the WAN port on the router and the ethernet port on the router is then connected to the hub/switch and the computers are then connected to the hub/switch.
The modem gets an unique IP address from your Internet Service Provider and then the router then issues Class "C" IP addresses to each computer that is connected to the switch/hub.

other units cant connect to my installed port hub and were having hight mare connecting it
