Question about Maytag Atlantis MAV6000 Top Load Washer

Maytag atlantis washer

The clothes are still wet after spinning. there is some clunking sporadically, so I wondered if it's the transmission assembly. I can peek under the lid when it's spinning, and it is spinning, but maybe not fast enough?

I'm having similar problem. No clunking, but clothes wet after spinning. It does seem to go up to the fast spin, but perhaps not. I did replace the timer as it wasn't advancing and that worked fine. Perhaps there is a two speed motor and ony one speed is working. Or perhaps there is a two stage transmission (low torque start and high speed spin) and that is the problem. Or perhaps the belt needs adjusting? Looking for answers...

With a small load of "light" clothing, spin seems to wring things out ok. Heavier loads of jeans, towels, etc still come out from spin cycle almost dripping wet. Just started happening recently.

Our Maytag Atlantis washer just started to spin incorrectly today. Usually, there is more than one spinning speed during the spin cycle. Right now there is only just one speed during the spin cycle. It agitates ok, empties out water ok, but does not want to spin correctly to fully wring the clothes in the spin cycle. Consequently, the clothes come out full of water. Also after opening the front panel to inspect the interior of the washer, I discovered that there was water in the tray right under the tub. I could not see where the water came from. Any ideas on what could be wrong.

Thanks in advance for your response.

Replaced belt it was worn now it spins OK but "clunks" like it is unbalanced then it gets up to speed and the "clunking" stops? Any advice would be helpful.

Ok, I came on line to look for solutions for the musty smell that comes from my dryer and now that I think about it, the clothes do not come out well spun (ie. wetter than they should be). Can't imagine how much more this costs to tumble dry, I'd leave them in the washer long enough to drip dry a little, but then there's the smell. The musty washing machine is driving me insane. I keep trying to get rid of the smell, tons of bleach should have worked, especially if it's coming from mold, right? Wrong!

I am also expiriencing the same situation.
I took a look at the machine and it appears to be in good working order.
But the belt does appear to be in need of replacing. I have ordered one and should find out everything will be back to normal once it is installed.
The worn belt would explain a lot.
- Light load are fine due to the lack of power needed to spin the contents.
- Heavy loads need the maximum amount of power it can get to spin.
But does not because the belt is slipping further into pulley grooves and is probably partially slipping, due to the wear.

My maytag atlantis cycles but wont spin out. It spins slowly then shuts off but leaves wet clothes and water in tub.

First determine whether all the water is pumping out before it goes into spin. If not, check the pump and drain. If its not spinning fast enough with an empty tub check that there isnt any article of clothing caught between the inner and outer tubs or tub top ring. If thats ok check the clutch by turning the main drive pulley CCW. Substantial drag should be felt before the basket overcomes momentum and begins to turn. There is no repair for the clutch on this machine. The transmission must be replaced.

Washer is making a noise and after the spin cycle clothes are still very wet

Number of things. The drain pump bearing could be making the noise, but if the water is out of the washer and the clothes are still very wet then you may have a transmission issue, including the brake or thrust bearing. The thrust bearing is more then likely the problem...part number...12500036. Not the easiest fix you might want to think about getting a tech to look at it...hope I've helped in anyway.

Wont spin

Sounds like the transmission seal had failed sometime back and has leaked the lubricant causing the transmission to overheat and now possibly seizing the gears, if this is the case the transmission will have to be replaced. Depending on the age of the washer, (5 years or less) you should contact Maytag to see if they will compensate you by way of furnishing the new transmission for free, but you will be responseable for the labor charge from a tech to do the replacement.
If they will not cover the part, you will probably be better off to replace the washer than to invest in the cost of a new trans and labor.
Good Luck !

My maytag atlantis wash machine is living my clothes soaking wet some times works good and others not

Intermittant blockage in the collector tank ...a sock maybe... blocked pump....loose spin belt or fluid drive if fitted.

Mav7000 spins but does not extract well. Clothes remain wet

wet as in standing water left in tub, or wet as in extra drippy???
standing water would be bad or pluged pump, drippy would be bad belt, pulley or tensioner assembly..
also if pump turns hard or has seized, the seal/bearing may have seized, causing a slowdown in spin speed besides burning the belt, leaking, and making a mess..
best of luck,
ttfn

My Maytag washer has no spinning mode while in rinsing cycle. I checked the voltage-it's about 118 to 130 volt consistantly. Please advise.

Our Maytag Atlantis strted having some unusual operation problems and failure to produce clean clothes about 3 - 4 yeras after purchase. The transmission was replaced, no parts costs, reasonable service call labor costs. Has worked good ever since, another 3 years or so.
Call Maytag and they will discuss with you.

Clothes still wet after final spin cycle

It sounds like you might have a broken belt or the belt just slipped off the pulley!
