unplug monitor cable with power on, see if any message will come up on screen, if message appears , cable replacement needed

Look for bad caps just like the failed PRINCETON as shown in my albums.

The set resolution is incompatible with the monitor. Use a monitor that works, change resolution then retry

1. Most of the time it's the florecent tube about to go out. Check other posts to replace it.

2. Alot is the adapter after a while will lose voltage check the voltage out of the adapter it should be 12V at 4A or 5A would work fine.

Roxio Changed Your display settings on the dual display.

Right Click on desktop>goto Prefences>

You should see both monitors indentfy the one and change it to a lower resolution.

In front the LED should come on oarnge even without the macbook when pressing the power button, if you have a meter check that the adapter measures 12V.

If it does, check the mainboard capacitors and diodes and the inverter, follow the voltage from the adaptor plug.

The highest is 75MHZ and the lowest is 56MHz, ita dipends on what sulution you chose to use, 1024 X 768 is 75MHz, 800 X 600 is 56MHz

This may help. Just make sure you have the right dc output mentioned on the back of your monitor (12v4a or 12v5a) if any lower your monitor will shut off after displaying for few seconds then electrical smell will come out from your ac/dc adapter. When it overheats it shuts off.
