Question about Electrolux Epic 6500 Vacuum

Starts and Stops

My 6500 starts and then stops after a second or two. The bag is new and there are no obstructions in the hose. The light that has an F is on. I assume this is a temperature sensor indicator, but the motor doesn't run long enough to get hot.
Does this mean the motor needs to be replaced?

My epic 6500 also startsand stops with the bag full light on. Removing the hose allows the motor to keep running but partial blockage of the intake shuts it off again. I'm guessing the sensor that indicates the motor is under a load is faulty (a full bag creates a load on the motor). I want to disassemble and replace this sensor but need a manual or tech support. Please help, and thanks.

I decided to disassemble and clean all the sensors and vacuum tubes inside. I think it was the small tube in the hose inlet area which is connected to the light that was signalling that something was wrong. After a cleaning and reassembly the unit is again working perfectly.

Because of this issue, I took the entire motor apart to clean, now I'm not sure exactly where the washers/bushings go. any diagrams out there that can help me put it back together?

I had the same problem. I took out the bag, left the door open and stuffed the bag housing with towels, held down the actuator button. It kept running. The actual problem was a small whole the size of a piece of lead in the plastic molding of the bag housing area. This whole is definitely not part of the design. The towels actually blocked airflow from escaping. So as a remedy I simply put tape over the whole and it is working perfectly once again.

It appears the cause of my problem was air leakage versus excessive pressure that a full bag would present.

Check the air filter which is at the air output (blower) part of the canister, under the part where the attachments are stored. Also, I know how to disassemble, but the air filter is the likely problem.

Why does it start, then immediately stop and bag light comes on?

My epic 6500 starts for a few seconds and turns off. With the filter light on. I take out the filter and it still does it. It only stays on if I cover the filter hole with my hand. Any solutions.

Have a 6500 epic electrolux canister vac shuts off if you restrict the hose new bag not completly

Shake the bag if you've been cleaning up "fine" carpet freshener powder, drywall dust or anything extra fine as it clogs the pours of the bag and the machine stops thinking the bag is full. If this doesn't work, you'll have to have the control valve on top cleaned or replaced to correct the issue. Hope that helps!

My vacuum stops showing "bag full" even after I

This is most probably due to a worn out or clogged Control Valve Assembly.
Detach the hose and see if it runs. If it does, place hand over hole. If it shuts off, CVA is probably the cause. A clogged CVA is generally due to using generic/made-to-fit bags. Genuine bags have "Home Solutions" printed on them.
You can try turning the dial all the way to the large dot, then try to run the vacuum.
If it is the CVA, you'll need to take it to an authorized Aerus Electrolux store and have their service tech repair or replace the part. I recommend a service and clean of the vacuum at the same time. This will extend the life of the vacuum.

Electrolux Epic 6500SR Full Bag sensor working, Does not Reset properly

The problem was a sticking switch that was not being reset. The vacuum on/off switch mechanism is comprised of two switches. One is the main switch that turns the vacuum on and off. The second is a shut off switch that gets tripped when the full bag sensor is engaged. This second switch is supposed to get reset when you push the on/off switch on the outside of the machine. The full bag shutoff switch was stiff and it, therefore, was taking a couple of presses of the on/off switch to move the shutoff switch back into the running position.

Electrolux Epic 6500 Vacuum

Well, make sure the hose part is not clogged, this happened to my friends recently and their vacuum was smoking, if you're positive this isn't happening then it might be just the engine call the sellers, try to explain and see if they exchange for a new one or a refund.

Electrolux Epic 6500 SR series

Ok i found a solution for my Electrolux Epic 6000 which had the exact same symptoms as you describe. I fixed it by disabling the "bag full sensitivity adjustor" (BFSA for short, for the lack of a better term). For that i opened the case, removed the hose that was preventing me from opening complety the casing, unscrewed the transaparent BFSA mechanism.

Here's the walkthrough:

- Open the case: Open the top part of the vacuum (where the bag is)
- Remove the 2 side rubber by sliding them from the back to the front of the vaccuum
- Remove the "plastic cap" at the end of the vacuum (you can slightly lift the vacuum top part to make it easier)
- Now unplug a small air hose to be able to open the case completely.
- Find the BFSA device and unscrew it.
- Now give your vacuum a try... it worked for me.
