Diagonal lines and ghost images

The picture quality is poor. We hooked another TV up to the same cable and that TV's picture was fine. Same poor picture quality when using DVD player.

You may have a bad flyback transformer (high voltage trans former). The lines you're seeing are retrace lines caused by the picture tube screen set too high. This is often caused by the screen control opening up. This control is part of the flyback.

Picture quality problems (such as lines, fuzzy image, or wrong colors)Check the cables and connections:
  1. Make sure that cable connections are securely fastened to the connectors and try reaseating the connectors. If connecting a device using component cables, make sure all three color-coded cables are connected correctly into the corresponding connectors.
  2. Check the condition and length of the cables. Cables that are longer than 3 meters (10 feet), become more susceptible to promoting signal degredation (small dots "sparkling" on the screen and image ghosting). Cables that have been bent or pinched may also cause picture quality problems. Replace the cable or try a different cable type.
    Press the CH button to display a different channel. Picture quality problems on a single channel or on all channels may be caused by the TV station signal (antenna) or the cable signal source.
  3. Make sure that the image quality issue is not coming from your source signal.
    For example: if the image quality issues occur while viewing TV, switch the source to a DVD player to see if the image quality problems go away.
    If selecting a different input source (using the remote control) causes the problem to go away, troubleshoot the source device causing the problem - adjust aerial antennas, call the cable company for assistance, and .
    If a picture quality problem occurs on all sources, the TV or its settings may be the cause of the problem. NOTE: Higher resolution TVs will make it much easier to view signal problems coming from source signals - especially TV signals. For example, if your TV cable company experiences heavy load on their system, you may be able to detect small miscolored squares that briefly scatter across the screen (macro-blocking). On a smaller standard TV, this type of quality problem is much less noticeable on a standard TV, but can become very annoying when viewed with greater detail.
  4. Open OSD to adjust the picture:
    Press the Menu button to open the OSD. Select the Picture menu and adjust the image as needed. 
    If you cannot adjust the TV to fix the problem, reset the settings from the OSD to see if the problem goes away.
  5. Unplug the TV from its power source. With the power cord unplugged, press and hold the power button for five seconds. Turn on the TV. If the image quality problems still exists across all types of signal sources, the TV should be serviced.

I have a DX-L26-10A that has problem with the A/V inputs. The picture is fuzzy. All the other inputs on the TV have a good picture. Both A/V1 and A/V2 are fuzzy.


AV1 and AV2 are Composite signals. What this means is that the Image signal and the Image color are combined into a single feed... or a composite or signal and color. Other than using CH3 from the cable box, this is the poorest performer in regards to signal quality. Additionally, the signal only has 480 lines of resolution and your TV has 720.

What all this means is that 480 lines of poor image quality are being blown up (think magnified) to fill 720 lines of resolution on the screen. What you end up with is a blurry image when compared to other inputs (ie: HDMI, COMPOSITE). The Dynex TV does not have some of the more advanced video processing of other manufactures. It will perform the image doubling, a bit of filtering, but not much more.

I suspect you TV is fine. A transition to an HD display can be shocking to some. After all, the VCR looked better on the old analog TV (not a joke, it did).

I get that effect when i use a very long coaxial cable. I reccomend using a fresh one. or you could connect a signal booster to it.

Ghosts on my tv


if you can, try hooking up the tv to a different cable line in the house or bring a different tv into the room where the bad picture is [ you may have a bad connection or wire ] if this doesn't help, try rabbit ear antennas just to get a picture. if you still have ghosts on your tv, the problem is with your tv.if the picture is fine, there maybe a problem with your cable service.

do you have a dvd or vcr hooked up to this? Is it hooked up with the a/v cables (yellow, red and white). double check the cable hookup make sure audio cord is not in the video jack, from what you are saying this will do that if it is. Also there is a capacitor on the main board believe it to be C3412 which intermittenly gives horz. lines but haven't had a audio tone with that.

  4. Try to Reset the TV ( LCD) quality options. Please look in to User Guide to make the TV to factory Defaults..
  5. Unplug the TV from its power source. With the power cord unplugged, press and hold the power button for five seconds. Turn on the TV . If the image quality problems still exists across all types of signal sources, the TV should be serviced.

I hope that this should resolve the issue. However, if the issue still persists then please contact LCD manufacturer for further more on the issue.
