It may be a food placement issue or possibly a bad humidity sensor.

I always recommend that folks put food off-center on the turntable (not in the center) to assure more even heating.

It's a stirring action, so imagine how inefficient it would be to stir just by twirling a spoon in the center of your coffee!

Also, when you put your food off-center, you're not putting it in the same spot every time. That will help prevent repeated heating of the the same spot on the glass, which can lead to weakness and cracking. Microwave popcorn gets hot enough to do that.

We have the entire service manual at our site if your or a friend want to look that over:

If you need a new sensor, you can order Sharp parts from Tritronics at

Please write back with more details if you need further help.

We're happy to help and we appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.

The manual says to put popcorn bag on overturned glass pie plate because the microwave emisions are higher than in a conventional microwave.

However, I do not want to use any more Pyrex because of all the reports of it exploding unexpectedly and injuring many people. I am wondering if this new silicone bakeware could be used to hold the bag instead.

Anyone else use something besides a glass pie plate for their popcorn?

I have a few questions, we have a convection microwave in our motor home. Is there special cookware I should use? How do you figure out cook times when baking in it?

if only using on convection it is like any other oven so either metal or corning ware, if using with microwave it must be a microwave safe material like corning ware, which is also good for heat.

Microwave turntable won't turn

Most likely the turntable motor itself is bad - not an uncommon problem for that model.

Check with (toll free 1-877-894-0035)

unfortunately, the particular motor used in your model is rather expensive - + - $50

sometimes an over heat will shut down the oven for a little bit but lets look at other things
i dont believe the board to be bad but i do believe the heating element inside is fried or a wire got fried by heat
if you know how to use ohm tester i would check heating element and wireing first
then try to see if the timer gave out

Indeed, sounds like the magnetron is shot. Not a big deal, I've replaced them before. But unless you know what your doing, don't! If under warranty, get a service tech out. Check on the service call charge ($) may be cheaper to buy a new micro!
