ith SD card inserted when powered on (hold play button 3 secs) light then flashes alternatly blue & red for about five seconds and goes off, music does not play MP3 format (no sound at all) suspect defective battery in unit?

I had exactly the same problem and realized that it was because the SD card must be formatted as FAT16 not FAT32 or NTFS.

at first I also have a same problem with U, yes it might be the battery U should recharge. Try to plug the USB then wait for around 1 hour. The indicator will turn into RED when its charging.

After the charging complete please remove the USB cable then press the play button for 3 sec and wait until the indicator turn blue. The music will play.
