Question about Dell E171FPb 17" TFT LCD Flat Panel Monitor
Pull the back off of the monitor. Check for loose connectors that connect the scaler, power supply, and logic board. I doubt its a loose cable but you may get lucky. Most likely it is a bad solder joint in the logic board.

Try to reverse the cable....use the end connected to the computer at the monitor and the monitor end to the computer. If tapping the monitor doesn't do anything and tapping the cable at the computer does the same faults then I would have it checked or just replace that cable.. Good luck.
