Question about Mitsubishi WS-55909 55" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

Will not turn on completly

When turning on the television, the green light comes on and you hear the click. After two seconds it clicks off. No picture or sound ever happens.
Also for the past few weeks prior to it not coming on, the picture would be distorted. It would be somewhat curved with double images in some areas along the edges. Every now and then if you tapped the TV, it would straighten out. Now it won't come on at all, just the ckick on then back off after the two seconds.

I am having the same problem. I have had this tv for 5 years and haven't really had any problems with it. Now it suddenly won't turn on. It behaves exactly as stated above, it turns on for about 2 seconds and then shuts off completely. I have tried resetting the system, unplugging the power for awhile, nothng seems to work. I have a WS-B55.

I too am having the same problem with my WS-55909. Great service for five years and no real issues leading up to this problem. It shutdown today during the middle of a program. Now, when the power button is pressed it lights the green led for about two seconds and then shuts itself back off. Very interested in any thoughts on what the problem might be???

I have the WS-B55 and it's about 5 years as well. I have no control with remote or manual changes to the TV. I had Best Buy come to look at it and said I need the control panel replaced. Meaning behind the on/off button the wiring board to the actual button control. Best Buy said their part supplier no longer carries the part. What a waste I paid almost $3K for an un fixable TV.

Mitsubishi WS-55909: When turning the TV on with either the remote control or front panel POWER switch, the TIMER green light will come on for about 2.5-seconds, and then the light goes off and a click is sound (like a click of a relay being switched from one postion to the other). The TV is about 5-years old and I had no problems until now, although, few months ago it started acting up: the picture will be off, but when the TV was reset it would be OK again. I tried SYSTEM RESET and unplugged the TV overnight but no change. The TV will not come on. Is it the on/off switch or relay which have failed ?

If it is like mine- it's the power board. It is no longer available so you have to buy a new TV

I have an electronic ignition furnace that won't spark. The blower turns on after about 30 seconds from hearing the ignition clicking but no spark. I noticed when I completed the lighting proced

On that unit the induced draft motor must close the pressure switch, and all safeties are proven closed, then that signal is powered to the ignition control board. Then the board sends a spark. Lots of times all that happens and the electrode that makes the spark needs cleaning, or the ground for that electrode needs to be cleaned/tightened. Takes some process of elimination for that one.

When turning on the TV the green light on the front does not come on. You hear a click and then about ten seconds later you hear another click but the tv never comes on.

What light do you get, green blinking, red blinking, yellow steady light or yellow blinking light. The led lights will tell what is wrong with your tv.

Mitsubishi 55" big screen TV powers down after 70 secs We had a power outage in the neighborhood, after which our Mitsubishi 1080 HDTV WS-55909 only had a blinking green light on the front (no variation or pattern), even after the set was powered down. Upon reading online, it appeared the DM module capacitors were the likely culprit, so I sourced (7)1000 microfarad capacitors and replaced them, then reassembled the TV. This was the first time I'd soldered on a circuit board, so of course a lot of things might have gone wrong. However, after that the TV now powers up, but I only have a blue screen and cannot get the remote to work except to power the TV on and off (tried changing batteries in remote, reprogramming remote per setup manual, etc). Further, the TV powers off after 1 min and 15-20 seconds. I then tried to see if I could get any of the attached devices to work on their own with no other devices on except the TV. Each of them yielded a blue screen (X-Box, VCR/DVD recorder, Wii, cable) except the DVD player -- which displayed a great picture! The problem is the DVD will play 1 min 15 seconds then the TV will shut down and the green light will blink steadily (no pattern) for 60 seconds, then power down. And this only works if the DVD is on before the TV is turned on, and since the remote doesn't work I have to press "play" on the DVD player. The DVD is hooked to Component Input 2 so that input appears to be working fine. The VCR/DVD recorder is attached to Component Input 1. When I had it powered up and turned on the TV, I got a blue screen. However, when I left the VCR/DVD on and then turned on the DVD, there were jagged lines on the TV for 3-5 seconds, then the TV made a popping sound and shut off. When I then turned on the TV (i.e., with both the VCR/DVD and the DVD on first), the DVD worked but could not switch to the VCR/DVD without the TV turning off. I also tried switching the cabling for the DVD to Component Input 1, but the DVD no longer worked. When I tried the VCR/DVD on Component Input 2, it still only yielded a blue screen. So is Component Input 1 bad? And why would the TV work with the DVD in Component Input 2 but not the VCR/DVD? Obviously I have multiple problems here. The first one to deal with is the TV shutting off after 1.25 minutes. I am unable to see where I can get an error code when the blinking light just blinks quickly without any pattern, and neither the front panel controls nor the remote control work. Perhaps most of my inputs on the rear of the TV don't work now except Component Input 2 but I don't know how to test this. So I made a little headway with the capacitor replacements, but not sure what I can do at this point. Any suggestions? I've seen references for other Mitsubishi big screens that shut down like this, and the fix was related to the output power module, but not sure if it applies the the WS-55909. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide. estout7
