Yes, you should be able to find a shorter fan rod at Home Depot or Lowe's or other building supply stores. If not you could possibly shorten the rod that came with the fan by carefully measuring how much needs to be removed, disassembling the fan and using a hacksaw to cut the rod to the length you need.

We have a ceiling fan which we bought from Sears about 12 years ago and it is remote control for both fan speed and light plus temperature monitoring and light dimming, the remote does not indicate battery power or work. How can I replace this remote? Sears indicates that it is Manufacture discontinue.
