There is no forced defrost entry for your refrig. Yours has a ADC board in the upper right corner of the control area in the refrig section. The only way to initate defrost is jump the terminals on the board. Look at the wiring diagram closely before making the jump. The board energizes the heater thru the neutral side so make sure you dont jump line to this. I believe you jump L2 to Def

How to test maytag refrigerator defrost thermostat

on your model the thermostat comes with a new heater
you have to read the t-stat when it's cold, unplug the harness, stick one end into the harness and stick the tip of the other probe into the other wire of the t-stat,or seeing that you have to replace the heater and t-stat anyway cut the two wires going to the t-stat,wire nut them together, manually turn the timer knob to put it into defrost and if the heater comes on you know the t-stat is can leave the heater on and get a hair dryer, melt out all the ice and then disconnect the t-stat wires and tape them or wirenut them, this way your machine will run for 10 to 12 days before it freezes up again giving you time to order your parts and you won't loose any food.when you get new parts melt out any ice again and change heater and t-stat.most likely the t-stat is bad, common problem.

Can you please tell me where the timer is located on the kitchenaid superba side by side refrigerator

there isn't a timer in your machine, you have a computer board or an adaptive defrost board, open the fridge door,on top where the controls are the board is in there, also look on the right hand wall on the fridge side up near the ceiling and you'll see a tag with the full model number,25 different machines showed up with the number you sent,go here and look at part number 6 this is your board new part number W10351625 this is the newest number and fits all kitchenaids.also check the defrost thermostat located on top of the evap coil,if it has a white plastic ring around the top of it and it's lifted up then this is your problem, when you have a defrost problem it's not a bad idea to change out the t-stat too,if you remove the front bottom kickpanel there should be a tech sheet on the panel or taped on the wall, this will tell you how to manually put the machine into defrost, you'll know if it goes into defrost when the evap fan in the freezer stops and the compressor shuts down, with the back inside freezer wall removed see if the heater comes on,if it doesn't,unplug the machine, cut the two wires going to the t-stat and connect them bypassing the t-stat,put it back into defrost,if the heater comes on the t-stat is bad part 2321799 ,or if you have a meter you can read out the heater and t-stat,you have a calrod heater in your model and they hardly ever go,if you bypass the t-stat and the heater doesn't come on change out the t-stat and the computer board.if it was a bad t-stat leave the heater on and with a hair dryer melt out all the ice,the heater will help you.good luck

The fridge is not cooling and the freeze is working. There is ice on back of the refrigerator and frosting up in the freeze on the back panel. The fan is running. Model number is 363.9527710 side by side

This refrigerator was made by GE for Kenmore.
The frost in the back of the freezer is telling you that you have and automatic defrosting problem.
This can be caused by the defrost timer:
The defrost heating element:
or wiring.

Most of the time the defrost control stops advancing so the unit never defrosts. This is what causes the ice to build up. There are 2 tabs on the defrost control face. Find the defrost control and the rotate the dial with a flat blade until the compressor shuts off. This is the defrost cycle. You should notice that it may start making weird noises in the defrost cycle. Pop Bang... etc.

What you can do to get about 3 good days of use out of it is to unplug the unit.. direct a fan into the freezer compartment with the contents removed for just over 2 hours. (makes a water mess!)
After the 2 hour period, re-load freezer contents and return the unit to normal use. It will work fine for up to 3 days and then start freezing up again.

Thanks for choosing FixYa,

GE Profile PSS26PSTB refrigerator ice melts inside icemaker

when you open the freezer door do you hear the fan blowing, you could have a bad evap fan motor, also if there's ice on the back wall you have a defrost problem, take off the inside back wall of the freezer where the ice is,you need to shut the control off and melt out all the ice,g.e. has had alot of problems with their computer boards which is a very expensive part number WR49X10152 around 200 bucks, look behind the kick plate on the bottom of the fridge and hopefully the tech sheet will be there,it will tell you how to put the machine into defrost,do this first before you melt anything out or before you touch the control,i think you click the lite switches together 5 times to make it go into defrost,it should tell you on the tech sheet,if ithe heater doesn't come on you need to read out the heater with a meter to see if it's good also read out the defrost thermostat, you have to check the thermostat while it's cold if the t-stat warms up you won't be able to check it, you should change out the t-stat anyway so you can cut the wires going to the t-stat,bypass it by connecting the wire directly to the heater and click the lite switches 5 times and the heater should come on,if it does leave the heater on to help you melt it if the fan is running on the freezer side, click the lite switches 5 times and the fan should shut off and then you'll know it's in defrost, the heater should come on ,if the heater and t-stat read good and it won't go into defrost then it 's the board, also you can take out the board in the back of fridge ,unplug it first and look at the board for burn marks on the back or on the soldered spots, the board tells it when to go into defrost and melt the ice off the coil and like i said g.e.has had a lot of problems with the board,if you need any more help let me know, good luck

Refrig not getting cold ......frigidaire side by side........6yrs old.....freezer temp is fine.......vacuumed coils and rear of fridge...cleared of all collected dust

when you open the freezer door do you hear the fan blowing, could have a bad evap fan motor, also remove the second bin from the bottom and touch the back wall,if there's snow or frost there you have a defrost problem, could have a bad adaptive defrost board in the fridge section or a bad heater, defrost thermostat, take off the back wall inside the freezer, melt out all the ice with hair dryer, check the heater with a meter and t-stat,you should change out the thermostat anyway, you can cut the wires close to the t-stat,connect the wires so you bypass the t-stat,if the heater doesn't come on change out the adaptive defrost board,i think you click the lite switches 5 times to make it go into defrost,if it doesn't it's probably the board, look at the tech sheet behind the bottom kick plate, hope this helps

Ice on coils on back of freezer on Kitchenaid superba side byside

you have a defrost problem, could be several things ,first when you open freezer door do you hear the fan blowing,if not bad evap fan motor,if it's good check t-stat and heater, you'll need a meter to read them out, or if the wires are the plug in type going to t-stat unplug the t-stat and plug wire dirrectly to heater bypassing t-stat and if heater comes on get a new t-stat,also there is an adaptive defrost board located in the fridge side,if you find your tech sheet, take off kick plate and you should see it under the fridge taped on the kick plate or on the side and it will tell you how to get the fridge into defrost,i think you click the light switches 4 or 5 times together and it goes into defrost,if that's what the sheet says and it doesn't go into defrost it's probably the adaptive defrost whenyou find the part that is bad melt out all the ice with hair dryer, hope this helps

2 year old Kenmore side by side refrigerator is too warm

the freezer feeds the refridgerator with cold air, when you open the freezer door,do you hear the fan blowing,if not you need to change the evap fan motor, next take out the second from bottom food bin and touch back wall,if you feel snow or ice you have a defrost problem, you'll have to take off back wall, advance the timer till it clicks into defrost and see if the heater comes on,if so you have a bad timer,if not read out the t-stat and the heater,if there are plug in wires on t-stat unplug them and bypass the t-stat by plugging t-stat wire to heater if heater comes on change t-stat,leave the heater on to help you defrost the ice off of evap coil and use hair dryer to melt ice, hope that helps

I have a maytag side by side refrigerator which seems to have the common problem of a warm fridge area while the freezer stays cold (but not cold enough for ice cream). It has been unplugged for several...

Hi, when you plug this refridgerator back in leave it for a few days and if you have the same problem it's going to be the defrost system. I will also assume you have the ability to repair this yourself. This is going to be one of three problems with your refridgerator, 1st thing to do is remove shelfs and panel in the back of the should see ice build up on the evaporator...don't worry get a hair dryer and melt the ice. Next locate the wires for the heater...using a multi meter test the heater for condinuity...if the heater is bad replace it, If the heater is good replace the defrost thermostat..the stat normally is a barrel looking part clipped onto the evaporator pipe. The last possible problem could be the evaporator fan, have you heard the fan running in the past few hours?..if you are not sure pull the panel out to where you can see fan and watch it over an hour to see if it turns. I have included links with pictures of what the parts you need to check are: defrost stat heaters evap fan. Hope this helps. If you have any other questions please feel free to comment again. If you decide to get a repair guy in should not cost you any more then $120 - $200 depending on make/model/problem Good luck! P.s Please don't forget to rate my solution Thanks! Mike
