Dell UltraSharp 2407FP Power Button slipping

I purchased the Dell UltraSharp 2407FP from DELL on July 15, 2006 and now the Power Button is slipping. I understand that the power button has to be in the upright position in order to power on and off this monitor, but know the button is loose and keeps slipping to right and left making it so that you cannot power the monitor on unless it is in the upright position. Seems like something got jared loose, for the fact that all the other buttons next to it are firm and stay in place after pressing on them. I have to take a needle nose plyers ever time the button slips to the right or left and twist it until it is the upright position. It feels like the button is pressed in and does not pop back in the firm position like the other buttons.

I am trying to figure out how to get access behind the button so that I can diagnose it further. I do want to go back to Dell for the fact that I did not get the extended warranty. My monitor still works and keep in on all the time with Power Save, but it is a pain in the neck to know that something so darn expensive would have an issue like this.

Any feedback or help would be greatly appreciated

one of two basic things here, unplug set to see if after a while it helps, and if channel scanning up or down on its own suspect the button associated with the direction it changes is a bad one.

Backlight problem, 2-3 secs of a flickering image then all black.

Look at the power supply section first for bad capacitors, the problem can be in the backlight inverter board also.

37" Dell Monitor/TV

The complete failure of the LCD display panel is quite rare; far more likely the backlight or the power supply for the backlight has failed and neither of these will cost as much as the entire panel which may not even be bad. If you take it to an independent repair shop, insist on getting any replaced parts returned to you.

No power

The same thing happened to me and Dell shipped me a new one. It happened about 12 days outside of my 1 year warranty. After many phone conversations with Dell, I finally got someone to replace it. They never told me what was wrong with the TV.

Dell w3000 has green power on no video just audio only

Had same problem as described by others, green light, audio, but no picture. Decided to look inside. Layed the TV face down on three textbooks (1 at top & 1 at left & Right) so that back (9 large screws & 2 small screws) could be removed along with stand. From the power supply (board that 110v AC plugs into) there is a cable connected to a circuit board on the left (again looking from the back of the TV) covered by metal shielding. Unplug this cable clean the male contacts with a miniture wire brush (bought mine at Home Depot) & plug the cable back into the socket. With rubber gloves (just to be safe) plug the AC cord into the back of the TV & wall and turn on your TV. The bulbs should activate in 7 - 8 seconds. Reassemble the back of the TV & install the stand. Enjoy your TV Doug
