Re: xbox 360 over heating

Those Nikko coolers and all type's of 'intercooler' are generally not a good addition to 360's, from what I've seen, they cause more trouble than what they're worth. You can add more fans internally to the 360, xbox-scene and llamma have plently of tutorials on the cooling subject ;)

Re: xbox 360 over heating

Nikko makes the intercooler, a cooler for the xbox. but i have heard stories about them overheating themselves, another company called titan makes the so-called xfan, a silent cooler for the xbox, however, i don't know where to get it,

i hope this helps you

How to Fix Red Ring of Death - A Step by Step Action Plan

Remember to rate me a 4 out of 4 thumbs up thanks

1) Disassemble Xbox 360 Case
Obtain your case separately. By a fine tip screwdriver, poke the grayed out holes and back of poke the small rectangle holes. Get the Faceplate Off and move the latch up on the DVD drive up as you remove it. Unscrew metal case which is under the plastic case.

Following is the image of video (How to disassemble xbox 360 case) which comes with James Dean's Professional Xbox 360 repair guide. If you are not comfortable with instruction you can use this video to disassemble your Xbox 360 case.

Click On Above Video Image To Watch Video On How To Your Repair Xbox 360

2) How To Remove Motherboard Safely

Unplug all cables connected to motherboard and associated small devices and take DVD drive out. After DVD, get the fan and motherboard out of the xbox 360 case. Make sure you do this gently.

Following is a quality video which can show how you can remove motherboard safely.

3) Crucial Motherboard Disassembles.

Turn the mother another side, using the screwdriver snoop off the X-clamp which you can find under heat sink. Check out following an image of a video which came with Xbox 360 repair guide which will make your process easy of "snoop off the X-clamp".
I will suggest you to do this step very gently if you are not comfortable doing this refer following video which comes with James Dean's 360 repair guide.

4) Heat Sink Unscrewing.

After snoop of X-clamp you have to unscrew heat sink to obtain CPU and GPU.I will advice you don't hurry to finish this work, please follow all steps else it will damage your xbox 360. If you are not confident do use Professional Xbox 360 repair guide.

5) GPU And CPU Cleaning.
Next step is to clean GPU (graphic processing unit) and CPU (central processing unit) If you do this step right it will help to stop xbox 360 freezing. This is very important and critical step so just make sure you do it right.

6) Appling Arctic Silver

Now you have to apply arctic silver thermal compound gently over GPU.
You will get this arctic silver thermal compound in any computer hardware shop for $1-$2.

Set it for 15 to 20 minutes then place 2 nylon washers on each screw on the heat sink then place the screws back in motherboard then add two more nylon washers to screws.

Place the heat sink on the peak of screws then push them down slight, finally screw them up. Try to make it reasonably tight.

Get everything back together and see everything is fitted properly. Now, Turn your Xbox 360 on.

I always like to educate people so I tried to describe a whole process in my words, Videos can make this whole process lot easier. I will suggest you to check out James Dean's Xbox 360 repair guide(Click Here To Visit) which will surely help you out to fix your XBOX 360. Also I have done a detail review of James Dean guide below, so don't forget to check it out if you need a pro help. please rate me high thanks

Xbox 360 with trouble turning on

Your xbox is over heating. most likely you have it placed where the fan is covered, your fan is broken or you have an older model. if you have an older model you can buy a internal fan. but your lucky that the xbox is smart enough to shut off and cool down

How do you fix xbox 360 e 74 any assistants would be a lot of help

There are two ways to fix this error.

First Take it to a shop that is able to re-flow the G.P.U.
with out damaging the P.C. board. And then securely
clamp the heat sink down . Im not sure if Microsoft does this.

Second Take the unit apart , remove the G.P.U.s Xclamp
replace with nylon washers and 4 8-32-3/8 long screws
lightly and evenly torque all 4 screws. Place half the
fan over the large heat sink and turn the unit on.

affter 5 min the fan should be at full speed and in
anouther 3-5 min you should get two reds . Unplug
and reassemble . The unit should be working.

If you have any questions just comment and ill respond.

Two red lights

if your x box is displaying a red segment on quadrant 1 and quadrant 3 you are suffering from an over heating issue. Your xbox should be shutting off the CPU and the GPU (fancy terms you dont need to wory about unless you want too) and flash Q1 and Q3 till unit has sufficiently cooled.

I have a Xbox 360 premium, which keeps over heating. It has a fan that you can plug in the back, but it makes no difference to the problem, which is that it keeps over heating?

how long are you playing it for

dont place it directly next to the wall and keep it in a cool room keep windows open at least

if that dosnt work you might have to open it up and hard mod fans to it (solder them to it)

usually the problem is when people play on it for hours at a time
and the poor quality of solder on it which keeps melting so be carefull

Xbox 360 overheats on startup

there could be hardware problems! mine never gave the two lights when it started it but when playing certain games it overheated and thats whats happening.. i got upset and opened mine up[ voids warrenty for three red lights] and added a 3 inch fan with a 12 v converter for its on power. i set it in on the heat sink and the bottom right corner of the xbox..

so i think you should get a powerful 3inch by 3inch fan with its on power supply and set ur xbox so you can point the fan at the bottom of the xbox! this will help! dont open ur xbox just set a powerful fan[ radio shack, walmart, hardware store] and let it cool the bottom of ur xbox!!!!!!!!

Cheapist way

!!items needed!!!

1. 12 v dc brushless fan

1. 12 volt ac power adapter that hooks up to the wall and the fan for a Direct Current!
thats it may cost over 20 and walmart is cheap and a little less quality

but as long as air pushing on the bottom of ur xbox is moving fast[ dont put the fan to close] so heat is transfered ur good

Xbox 360 Error Code 0021

So, you took apart the Xbox 360?

The Xbox 360 has serious cooling problems; compressed air usually does wonders for the Xbox.

You'll "brick" your Xbox tampering with the fan and heat sink; soft mods are always a bad idea if you don't have any recourse for fixing the system.

Hard Mods/Mod Chips are the best way to go because you have dual boot capabilities; you can boot to the original Xbox OS or the Mod Chip firmware.

Currently, Microsoft is being sued for the number of Xbox 360 consoles experiencing the "Red Rings of Death."

Microsoft is making amends by fixing the Xbox 360 at no charge.

Taking the Xbox apart yourself may void your warranty; you might start by uses an Ohm Meter to check the heat sink and fan connections.

Also make sure there is not a gap between the heat sink and the processor; this space should be filled with the thermal compound.

Furthermore, the fan might be damaged and not reporting the fan speed through the variable resistance wire; only way to determine this is by powering the fan with +5v / -5v and checking the variable resistance wire with an Ohm meter.
