DS Card Not Recognized

My son's Nintendo DS powers up fine, the DS cartridge fits into the unit fine, but the unit is not recognizing a DS card.

We are getting a message that says "No DS Card inserted." We have tried 4-5 games - all fit in the unit fine, but none of them are being recognized.

Any thoughts?

Re: DS Card Not Recognized

The card slot may be dusty, blow gently into it (making sure no spittle gets in) or get a clean cloth and wipe the outside of it. On no account must the slot get wet, or it will probably get damaged and will not work.

My son's Dsi XL just started to not recognize when a game cartridge is inserted, it will appear if I push and hold the cartridge down, but not stay on as supposed to.

the card reader is broken you need to either call Nintendo to fix it or get a 3rd party to fix it you can go to craigslist and search ds repair and you will get people to do it for a less fee then Nintendo make sure you take some on along with you

DS doens't recoginize R4 card in my sons DS Lite. My other sons DS does recoginize the R4 card. Why? how can I get the card to work in both DS Lites.

Make sure you bought the correct R4 for the DS light and not the DSi. If you bought the correct one, then it sounds like the R4 cartridge is defective and needs to be exchanged for another one. Remember, Nintendo does not support the R4 cartridge, so go back to where you purchased it from.

R4i cartridge isn't recognize. Can anyone help?

Hey there,

You should check to see the authenticity of your R4i cards. Typically, the red package (R4i-SDHC original) is real, and the R4i Gold version is also an acceptable alternative which is arguably more future proof:

Make sure you have a decent / original R4i card. Differences in manufacturing techniques could simply mean quality control is poor on the cards you bought, which would explain why one works and one doesn't.

If you're looking for a reliable place to buy real DS cards, I'd recommend - mainly because they ship by next day worldwide, but also because they test every single card before sending so you don't get a card that doesn't work. You can also e-mail them questions, even before you buy - and they tend to reply within about a day. I've bought mine from there (they are the third store I've tried but I'm sticking with them!) and several more since for friends and family.

Best of luck!

Nintendo ds lite x 2 will not play any games

The pins on the cartridge slot get oxidation and dirt on them. The game cards also get dirty. Pick one game card and carefully cut little strips of extra-fine sand paper. Use a stylus to rub gently each contact on the game card. They should become shiny gold again. Blow it off with compressed air and insert it into the DS. Do not attempt to clean inside the DS.
