1 Answer

Viking 36 We have a Viking 36" range (VGIC366-4G )and the oven door won't open all the way (it opens only about 3/4). We haven't called for service yet, because my husband thinks he can fix this problem himself, if we could only get the door off. ANy suggestions?

Re: Viking 36

The door can be removed from the hinge assembly by lifting upwards and outwards while the door is only slightly open - no hardware needs to be removed to get the door off. My door VGIC366 hinges did the same thing a few years ago, and simply cleaning them fixed the problem entirely.

Our dual fuel 36" viking's oven door will not open completely, it appears to be binding

This usually happens if the "Clean" function has been used, then the door is "Locked" for many many hours until it cools down, this mechanism often fails, try disconnecting from mains, trip the "Breaker" leave for 5 mins, and try then.If still no go, i fear you are going to need it serviced.

I have a viking VGIC365-6bss I pre-heated oven to 500 degrees and now the oven door will not open.

One of the door hinges was loose. You have to lift the door by the handle to open it.

VGSC3054 oven door won't open

After frantically calling Viking hdqtrs and several repair shops for their advice and experience, it turned out that after my husband fiddled further with it, something got unstuck and it miraculously opened all the way again. Don't think we'll ever know what caused it in the first place , but it works now.

Oven door hinge adjustment...?

Regarding the oven door not closing all the way and dropping suddernly to the floor, I called a local authorized service company and asked if there was a door spring (no). So the recommended solution is to have the hinges replaced. However, since the oven door didn't really hold its open position from the beginning, when it was brand new back in 01, I'm going to see if a new Viking oven has the same defect as ours. Then, it would seem like a good idea to take a chance on having it repaired.

Is replacing a set of oven door hinges something a person with reasonable mechanical aptitude can do?
