I assume that you want to connect wirelessly.

First, do you have a wireless network card, and is it enabled?
I will not go into the details of configuring your computer for a wireless adapter, since there are many configurations.

Second, Is your router configured for wireless connections? It should be by default.

If you can give me more details, I can assist you better.

Hope this helped!

Can i hook up wrt120n to laptop without hooking up to cable modem to fix?

Try this: Unplug EVERYTHING(related to both the router and modem). BEFORE you plug in power to anything, connect all of your ethernet. So, first ethernet goes from modem to router. Make sure they are in their proper places. Next, take another ethernet cable and attach that from modem to computer. NOW, power everything up. Google the linksys router splash page login. Im sure it'll be something like: 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1 or something along those lines. From there, you should be able to set up your wireless. Once thats all good, unplug just your computer and everything should be fine. If that doesn't work, its either time for a new router or you're having wifi card issues.

We moved and when everything was hooked up i cant get a connection from my linksys wireless router to my laptop

Ok - hook the power to the Linksys - then RESET - the folded out paper clip will work. Once RESET - hook it up to your ISP provided MODEM [ You must have this service to get on the web] now unplug the Modem provided by your ISP or provider - and unplug the router.
WAIT
15 seconds - then
hook up the MODEM from the provider - then hook up the router - then restart the laptop - if wired it will need to be plugged in - if wireless - run your 'search for a wireless signal and you should have it.

Thanks

I have 2 desk top computers hooked up to one internet source and they are hooked up to a box which my old linksys router was hooked to. I now have a lynksys wireless router G. i unplugged the internet...

Are you trying to set up the router.
You can do it manually without the CD.
Make sure that your computer is able to go online
through the modem.
If your computer is able to go online through the
modem
Then you need to connect the computer to the
router and the modem to the router.
open the set up page of the router and change the
settings of the router according to the ISP.

Im hooking everything up right as im going through the 4 step intallation disk and it says Your new router does not appear to be connected properly.

make sure the cable going from your laptop/computer is connected - you NEED to be connected! or if you are going wireless and you know that your laptop wireless adapter is working and you can see the default wireless network - which is "linksys" (without the quotes) you should be able to connect to it and configure it without the CD..

Wont play throught speakers only crakles everything hooked right maybe needs new wireing harness but everything works but sound

If everything is hooked up correctly, you may need to wire harness. It could be a bad capacitor in the audio outputs. Easy to try wire harness first. Sometimes turning off and back on again works.

I have Time Warner Cable for internet and Vontage cable for my phone thru my internet. I'm trying to connect a Linksys router for my wireless laptop. I also have a Netgear switch connected to Time Warner...

If you purchased a Linksys wireless roter then you shoul not need the switch anymore-
Try going directly from your time warner modem into the Interner/WAN port on the router and then plug your desktop computer and the vontage phone system into 2 of the ports on the router. After everything is hooked up you will probably need to power cycle for it all to work correctly.
Please power cycle in this order:

Reboot modem - then Router- then Vontage phone system.

Hope this helps

The lights are on but the linksys is not working

Certainly if the conection directly from the router to the computer is not working then the wireless won't work. So that's where I'd start. Cable connections could be an issue. The connection without the router works I assume. Make sure you are connected correctly. You need ethernet cabling to the ethernet, networking connections to and from the internet device to the computer and into and out of the router. When you get the direct router connections working you can solve your wireless problems.
