Cover page when resubmitting

I imported a message store in Winfax 10 from windows 98 to windows XP. When I open a old sent fax and try to resubmit it I get an error that the cover page text file is corrupt.
I tried getting all the old cover pages back in place but it still does not work.
Is there a solution to this?

Thank you

Re: Cover page when resubmitting

This is opinion but more than just a few have had problem with that version of WinFax and "other' operating systems. Suggest you check the support site more than likely, if you can produce a new cover page and it will transmit, just have a corrupted file / folder / location where they are stored. You might want to run scandisk is "thorough" mode (depending on drive size and memory this can take a few hours plus). That may correct some cross linked issues as well as point out a bad cluster or two on your drive. If more than 4-5 bad clusters and / or your drive makes a bit of grinding noise it may be time to replace the drive. If no bad clusters though you may just have a noisy drive so don't panic. With Recuva (free) you can also poke around your drive and do a search for the old cover pages. Lastly, you may not have put them back in the right place....create a new one and paste your old date if possible...just a thought not knowing exactly what you have or have done. Good luck. Tango.

Restoring sent and received faxes to fax logs

That's not the way to backup your logs. You copied only the fax images, and not the logs to go with them. This is a common error that is made quite often. Unless you have the original log structure, your data (logs) that link to the actual fax images (fxds, fxrs, etc.) are lost.

Try FaxTalkPro. It imports WinfaxPro phonebooks and files, and the interface is very similar to WinfaxPro. The link to the trial version is:

How can i refresh my send logs automatically ?

You can't, if a fax failed, and you leave it in the log, its listed there as a failure. If you're manually resubmitting the fax, while its in the outbox being re-transmitting or waiting, you can delete the old entry that failed in the send log.

Windows Updates will not download...

Version 10.04 will not fix the problem with Windows Updates, and 10.04 will only update from a 10.03 version. Its not recommended unless you're using Fax Sharing and Windows XP.

Its possible you've overwrote some important system files in the process of copying files, but WinFax itself would not cause the problem.

Winfax pro suddenly faxing to wrong number

you have some options, so choose one.
  1. remove your fax
  2. configure your fax to answer later (maybe after ringing 10 times) and configure the winfax to answer before (something like ringing 5 times or less)
the problem here is that the fax answer and start receiving the fax and the winfax receive the fax signal at same time. check the winfax maybe you have the half part that the fax modem not has printed stored in winfax, maybe.

as I said, your better choice is removing the fax modem. even configuring like I said before, maybe the two continue to try to receive the fax at same time.

hope it helps.

How to create "Message Stores" in Winfax Pro 10

To create the message store folder: 1. Close WinFax and the WinFax Controller. 2. If you are running Windows NT, 2000, or XP, stop the WinFax service. If you don't know how to do this, read the document How to start or stop a service in Windows. 3. Using Windows Explorer, locate and then double-click the Symantec WinFax Pro folder. 4. Click File. 5. Point to New, and then click Folder. 6. Give the new folder a name (My Faxes, for example) and press Enter. 7. Close Windows Explorer.

Winfax pro problem

This is a solution that was suggested for an earlier edition of the Winfax Pro, but there is no reason why it shouldn?t work on this one as well: 1. Close Winfax and any other program that has anything to do with it, delete all the temp files that yo don?t need. 2. Run Scandisk and fix any problems that may come up. 3. Run delfix.exe which is located in the winfax folder in the status files. 4. Run delfix-rebuild and delfix-optimize and check if the problem is solved. If the problem reoccurs there is another possibility- to change the name of the WinFax\data folder and create a new one which you will transfer the address book file, status files etc. from the old folder. Note that there might be some information that wouldn?t go through.
