I am getting a ER-FF which is for the fan so the fridge and freezer both don't cool. I called LG and they told me to unplug the unit for three hours. I plugged back in after 4 hours and had same problem. Called back and they told me that I had to wait longer and that was the only thing it could be (98%). After 15 hours still not working and no help from LG.

Re: FF error code
The cause of the problem is here on the back wall, water gets trapped and freezes, over time a big ice ball will form. Defrost unit and cut off the insulation here, the water can now longer get trapped. Problem solved.

Re: FF error code
John, sounds like the evap fan motor quit. Now you have to determine whether it's the board or fan motor itself. You should have a tech sheet on the bottom or on the back of the plate covering the main board. You want to see if you have 115V going to that motor from the board. I only have a diagram for a top mount but the boards should be close. Your board should be on the back, left side. On the board you will see con1 (connector 1). The blue wire should be your nuetral. Now look on your schematic for the F-fan, follow it up, on mine it's connector 2 pin 5, grey wire. With a meter measure the voltage between the blue and grey wires. It should read 115V. If you have that voltage, the board is ok, you need to replace the evap fan motor. If you don't have that voltage, your board is the problem. Just make sure you don't have any ice blocking the fan blade itself. I looked your board up on the net and it runs around 76.00 at repairclinic.com. Let me know how you make out. Catriver.

Feb 26, 2018 - FF Error Code. A FF error code indicates that the unit has detected an issue with the freezer fan. This can sometimes be caused by frost buildup. ... If you notice frost buildup along the walls of the freezer compartment, the leveling and door alignment of the refrigerator will need to be checked.
The FF error means that the freezer fan isn't working properly. The motor may have malfunctioned or ice has built up and is preventing the fan from turning. Unplug the refrigerator, remove the food to other cold storage locations (cooler, another fridge) and allow it to defrost. Dry up any moisture around the unit. Plug it back in and allow it to cool for 4 hours. If the error returns, the refrigeratr needs service.
Generally, you need to replace the fan motor and the motherboard in the refrigerator. (The motor keeps trying to spin until it becomes damaged, even if the problem was ice build up.) The fan pushes the air into the refrigerator to keep it cool. The freezer is more directly cooled by the refrigerant cycling through the unit. If your refrigerator is still under warranty, contact LG. (There is a 1 year warranty on most of the unit. The sealed refrigerant system has a 7 year warranty on those parts.)
I hope this helps.
(Unfortunately, I do not have a source for parts.)
Hi, here are the error codes and meanings for your Refrigerator
Error Code, All Error Codes will have an ER on the left side, followed by the error on the right: Er IF - Icemaker Fan Error - This can be caused by frostaccumulation on or around the icemaker fan. Unplug the unit for 3-4hours to allow this to melt off. If error code persists, call CustomerService. Er FF - Freezer Fan Error - This can be caused by frost accumulationon or around the freezer fan. Unplug the unit for 3-4 hours to allowthis to melt off. If error code persists, call Customer Service. For remaining error codes, try unplugging the unit for a couple ofminutes to reset the unit. If the error code persists, call CustomerService Er FS - Freezer Sensor Error Er rS - Refrigerator Sensor Error Er ds - Defrost Sensor Error Er dH - Defrost Heater Error Er CF - Cooling Motor Error Er CO - Communications Error
Error Code "Er FF" indicates a problem with the unit's freezer fan.
The freezer fan controls the temperature in the freezer. The source of this error is most likely ice buildup. As with the Er IF error, allowing the unit to thaw should resolve the issue. This can be caused by frost accumulation on or around the freezer fan. Unplug the unit for 3-4 hours to allow this to melt off. If error code persists, call Customer Service.

Error Code Er FF This code is not to be confused with the O FF or demo mode error message. The "Er FF" error code indicates a problem with the unit's freezer fan. The freezer fan controls the temperature in the freezer. The source of this error is most likely ice buildup. As with the Er IF error, allowing the unit to thaw should resolve the issue. Contact customer service if the error code continues to be displayed after having thawed the unit.
Er FF - Freezer Fan Error - This can be caused by frost accumulation on or around the freezer fan. Unplug the unit for 3-4 hours to allow this to melt off. If error code persists, call Customer Service.
Sounds like the FF(Freezer Fan) is wearing out or is worn out. This assembly supplies the circulation for the freezer as well as the refrigerator. When is slows down or stops the circulation of cold air to the refrigerator is the first thing that is effected. The minimum cost to replace this assembly is around $300.00
The ER-FF problem that you have is: ERROR -FAN FREEZER so it means that you have a problem with maybe the fan motor or if it's a bottom mount freezer maybe ice built up on the fan motor so it's blockin the fan motor.
Hope i helped u a little bit ! :)
