The notebook doesn't boot at all. Only the power LED remains lit. but there is no fan activity on the CPU area or RAM beeps. What is there left to do? I also tried the [Alt]+[F10] combination. and still no result.. The notebook just doesn't seem to react at any key
Unplug the unit from the AC adapter, remove the battery. After a few minutes, re-seat the battery and plug the unit back in and try to fire it up. We'll start here and continue on if this does not work.Unplug the unit from the AC adapter, remove the battery. Have you checked the keyboards light? Is it lit? When you press on the CAPSLOCK button, does the light changes in the keyboard?
Try to unplug the hard drive, and DVD from the mobo and see if it goes well.
If no go, try removing the RAM sticks and see what's on the screen when you turn it on. Then put each part back one by one, checking the computer for any change or something like that.
The steps I would take would be :
1 make sure you have a power supply with the proper power connections and at least 500 Watts
2 remove and reset the power connections, try to boot
3 disconnect all hard drives and cd/dvd's, try to boot
4 remove all ram/memory sticks, try to boot and listen for the beep or beeps
if it doesn't beep and still shuts off, you have a bad motherboard and/or cpu
if it does beep, you need to try different ram
Yes if there are error on the system you should most likely hear a beep most of the time when there is no beep it is due to bad ram. Some times beep codes can't detect bad ram and your computer will not boot.
Open the computer up and see how many ram chips you have if you have more than one take the one in dimm slot 2 out. There should be small writing next to the slots 1,2,3,4 or Dim 1 dim 2 ect ect. you always want to keep slot 1 with ram so start by pulling out the ram out of slot 2 and turn your computer on. If your computer still dosn't post pull the ram out of slot 1 out and insert the ram that was in slot 2 into slot 1 if still no luck it's most likely your board but the best way to test this is to know that you have a good working stick of ram you could purchase one and if it dosnt work bring it back ... theres also the chance of your video card being bad but there is usualy a post code for it (beep code)
if you have no clue on what ram looks or how to open your computer just google for installing ram on a computer and you should find step by step guides
Does the CPU fan rotate? And no monitor activity? Sometimes the hard disc has some kind of activity. This could be attributed to loose/failed in memory in the syste. You can try to reseat or clean the memory edge connector with clean eraser. But power down first yur unit and unplugged to wall socket no power connection shall be connected.
Sometimes it doesn't make any beep code. If beep is generated this could be video problem. But check first the Ram and video, before getting to anything.
