Question about Zanussi ZWD1470W Front Load Washer / Dryer

1 Answer

E20 message My washer dryer keeps stoppping in the drying cycle, beeping and displaying an E20 message. If I restart the cycle it'll go for a while and then stop again with the same message. This only happens with the dryer though, not on any of the washing cycles. My washer dryer is a ZWD1471W Jetsystem Progress 1400 spin, 18 months old. I got an E20 message first when using the dryer . Then I found the washer wouldn't work. When I check the filter there seems to be no blockage, but after I do this then the washer will work for 1 or 2 washes, but then sometimes the E20 message comes back. This is generally rectified by opening up the filter, even though their is nothing their blocking it still.  Sometimes I can get away with using the dryer once, but then the E20 message comes back. The machine seems to be getting over hot on the top right side panel at the back. Ive checked all the outlet hoses and pipes and they seem fine.

The filter is blocked. Disconnect your power source. Open the panel. Have a towel or wet vac handy and a screw driver. There is a silver ring circling the drainage hose with a small screw on top. Loosen the screw. Pinch the hose on top and let water drain to wet vac or towel. Completely remove the hose from it's housing. Reach your thumb and index finger inside that same hose and pull out the filter. It looks like a small plastic cup with holes in it. Clean it out, wash it. Use your fingers or dry vac hose and feel the bottom of the inside of the hose where the plastic cup came from. Remove any debri that excaped past the filter with fingers or suction with hose til you can feel with your fingers that the bottom of the inside of the hose is clear. return the cup back inside the hose. Put the silver ring over the lip of the hose then place the hose back on it's metal housing which is attached to the machine. Make sure the hole is secured around the entire metal (if not you will get leakage). Tighten the small screw, pull down at the hose making sure it will not come off with the pressure of the water. Clean up any leakage. Close panel and I promise you, your problem will be solved. Good luck, from Cheryl AlAlexander

What does beeping mean during dry cycle?

My dryer did the same thing, it was so distrubing noise in the middle of drying cycles, so I turned off the sound switch it went away, now it doesn’t peep any more.

Hi Celine, I just experienced the same exact problem. I came here looking for a solution. I got mine to stop by holding down the cycle signal button for 3 seconds, releasing it for three seconds, and repeating until both lights (loud and soft) went off. Hope it helps.

if this is a fridgidaire washer, I guess it's a clogged coin catcher. You have remove the front access panel and clean it out. I am working on that now.

E20 message

Hi Helenw,
The error message E20, simply means the filter plastic cage which is located behind the trap door bottom right side of the machine is full and needs to be cleaned out.
All the fibres and lint gets trapped in here and prevents the waste water from escaping, hence Error code E20.

Regards,
David

E20 During Drying Cycle

if the wash cycle runs ok then unlikely to be the drain pump or hoses. put drain hose into a bucket and check waster comes out during dry - it wont be large amounts of water. can you hear the drain pump running during the dry cycle?
