I just receiver recovery and system disc from Acer to restore my laptop to factory settings. I tried couple times and followed the instructions. The recovery disc formatted partition 2 on the computer but once finished , rebooted and on black screen displays message about corrupted file. I have no idea how to fix it. Whenever I reboot from CDROM it starts the process all over again with formatting and recovery. When I reboot from hard drive ir displays message about corrupted file. Computer does not work at all. What to do? If there are two partitions on the HDD how to format another one if computer reboots from that one? Please help!

Looks like your recovery cd is corrupted. You must obtain a copy of Ms Windows cd and install it using the license from the back of your laptop. If that doesn't work either its a hardware related (hdd) problem.

Acer Aspire 8930G 0xd0000017 recovery error

The Acer Aspire One is a netbook, not a laptop. A netbook is a smaller, scaled-down version of a laptop. It does not have the memory capacity or graphics of a regular laptop. It also lacks a CD drive, which means you cannot restore the Acer Aspire One with restore discs. Instead, the netbook has a built-in factory restore feature. You can reset the Acer Aspire One to factory settings just using your keyboard. Only restore your netbook to factory settings if you cannot fix the problem any other way.

Save any files or folders on your Acer Aspire One with flash drives. Drag and drop files onto the icon of your flash drive. Go to "Start" > "Restart" to reboot your netbook. Hold down "Alt" and "F10" when you see the Acer logo on the screen. The recovery menu will load. Hit "Enter" and then "Next" to see your recovery options. Choose "Factory Restore" to set your netbook back to factory settings. Follow the instructions on the screen. Choose your time zone and language when the customization menu appears. Reboot the netbook when you are prompted. Restore your saved files from the flash drive.

Restore windows xp home basic to factory settings

Hi coz352...

Select models of Acer computers, with Microsoft Windows, have the ability to have the Operating System reinstalled from a hidden partition built into the computer.
Note: During the process, all data stored on your computer will be overwritten. This means all your files, such as email and photos, will be erased. Therefore, we recommend making a backup of all personal data before starting the recovery process.
To start the system recovery:
1.Restart the computer.
2.When the Acer logo appears on the screen, press the Alt and F10 keys repeatedly.
3.If you are prompted with a Microsoft Windows boot screen, press the Enter key.
4.After the system recovery application has loaded, follow the prompts to reinstall the Operating System.
If the ability to reinstall from the previous method is not available or fails, recovery of the Operating System will need to be from Recovery Media. If you do not have a set of Acer Recovery Media, you may purchase the set online from the Acer Recovery Media Order Form..
Note: If your computer does not have an internal optical disc drive, an external optical disc drive will be required in order to recover the Operating System using Acer Recovery Media.
1.Restart the computer.
2.When the Acer logo appears on the screen, press the F12 key repeatedly to enter the computer's Boot Menu.
3.Press the CD-ROM drive eject button and insert the disc labeled System CD.
4.Close the CD-ROM tray.
5.Refer to on screen instructions to select either CDROM or USB CDROM.
6.The computer will boot from the Acer Recovery Media
7.When prompted for the Recovery CD, remove the System CD and insert the Recovery CD.

Note: If there are multiple Recovery CDs, please insert the first of the Recovery CDs.

8.After the system recovery application has loaded, follow the prompts to reinstall the Operating System.
Note: if your computer is unable to run the Acer Recovery process, or errors occur during recovery, please contact Acer support.

Forced to Shutdown on boot-up. Messed by wrong usage of Combofix

Drivers for Acer products may be found on the Acer support page ( http://gd.panam.acer.com/home/ ). Search for the product and download the drivers. Alternatively, the factory installed drivers and applications can be re-installed by using Acer eRecovery.
Follow these steps:
  1. Press ALT and F10 to start Acer eRecovery.
Please note: It will be prompt to enter or create a password. This password will be required to use eRecovery in the future. Forgetting this password will require the use of the recovery discs to reformat the system.
  2. In the next window, select Restore or Recovery. This will vary from system to system.
  3. Choose Reinstall Applications/Drivers
  4. Choose Install
  5. Click on Windows on the left side of the page.
  6. Choose driver or applications.
  7. Choose the item to install
  8. On the right, click the install link and follow the prompts.
  9. The system may restart when installation is complete. If it does not restart, manually shutdown and restart the computer.
If a set of recovery discs was created, or received when the system was purchased, the factory installed drivers and applications may be reinstalled from that media as well. Start the computer and insert the System CD (or the first disc) and browse the disc and choose which item to install.
