Question about Archos AV400 Digital Media Player
Hi. I have this mp4 player and think its great. However, loads of videos I have which were on my old mp4 player wont play on the archos av400. Some wont play, while some play the audio part, but most have out of sync audio and video-which can get very annoying!
So...does anyone know any good ways to solve this problem?
Maybe either a way of updating the file types (codecs etc) that the av400 can play, or any simple way of converting the files to forms it is happy with.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, its driving me nuts!
The av400 can only play divx encoded files without qpel motion and b-frames if I remember correctly.
The way to solve this problem, is to download virtualdub, the divx codec and re-encode the video files without those 2 features. That will take care of the video formats not being recognized. As for the av sync problem, you need to choose a non vbr format, use cbr (constant bitrate mp3) as an option. It will work fine.
There should also be some software that encodes your videos automatically to the archos specs. This player is picky about settings like that. Virtualdub is nice because you can setup a job (many videos and encode all day and night at once).

Archos have suport for only few video archive type (Avi Simple, XVID, DIVX, MP4) but not much.
I suggest you visit the web page of Archos and download last update for you.
