HONDA power washer ON-OFF switch

Unit will not start. I noticed a (broken) wire hanging off the side of the engine with a grommet that looked like it went into the housing where the ON-OFF switch is. Took off the housing, and the switch looked like it was missing part of the switch and there were no wires connected to it, although there was a tab that looked like it was for a wire connector. Obviously the switch is bad and came apart. QUESTION-what does this switch do? Does it take that broken wire I found to ground for the engine to run/or not run or does it take that wire thru the switch to another wire that was completely gone? I could not find a wiring diagram. This is about a 10-20 year old 5.5 or 6.5HP standard looking Honda power washer.

More than likely the switch complete the circuit and allows the engine to run you canjumper the switch and see if it runs, if so, you can buy a switch from auto parts store and mount it

Switch just grounds out spark, you may have a wire off. The test is to run a jumper to ground switch and see if it stops or jumper across the switch with a wire and see if it stops

My pressure washer has no water pressure
If the pump was run with ice in it the pump may have been damaged on the crank side. This means your pump might not be moving the little pistons back and forth anymore.

You can take the cover off the water side of the pump and crank the engine *(dont start the motor! Crank with motor switched to off) and observe the pistons for movement. If they dont move the pump is broken internally on the crank side.

The only fix for this is major repairs or a pump replacement. Sorry. But most of the time it's just cheaper to purchase a new pressure washer. But you can sell the motor and supporting parts to recoup a bit too. Or buy the same unit and keep this unit for parts.

Backfiring
Check the chassis wiring whe it enters the side cover on the ignition side of the engine. There is supposed to be a rubber grommet there. Soetimes that grommet gets kicked loose where is comes out of the side cover hole and the wires chafe to the point that they ground out the ignition module.

Also looks for bare wires under the gas tank around the ignition coil module. Everything your describing points to a chassis short to ground.

Also the problem can be in the handle grip with the kill switch or a bad kill switch.

It is probably time to break out the Ohm meter and start chasing wires.

I have a white wire - approx. 5' with no home that I can see
please connect it to earth(chassis) and look if it is stil sparking. i think it is the wire to stop the gen. it used to be fit behind the handle to start and stop please let me know, thanks.

some honda engines have a oil alert switch on the engine just pull all the wires from off the side of the engine then locate and simple pull the male from the female, still the same chech the switch.

No spark
Check the side stand kill switch if your bike has one. It kills the engine so that you don’t start out with the side stand down. If broken or out of adjustment, it would kill the spark. Check for a broken wire at the side stand switch and coupler. Try moving the kill switch by hand. If that doesn’t work then wire a jumper around the switch to bypass it. Check the fuses. How good is the battery? Try a jump start from your car battery. Is the handlebar kill switch on? Check the operation of the ignition switch and all kill switches with a volt ohmmeter. Install new spark plug.

If that doesn't do it, check the wiring harness. Did a wire come unplugged? Are all wires clean and with solid connections? Any abraded or pinched wires? Is the bike in neutral and the neutral light is lit up? If no neutral light, check the neutral switch and neutral switch wire on center casing. If still no spark, get CDI system and coils checked at the dealers shop. You can screw up a CDI unit checking it yourself.

1997 honda accord how do i get through firewall with power cable?
If you cannot access a existing grommet, just drill a small hole through the firewall on the passenger side. Take a moment and look carefully so you will not pierce or damage other parts. Usually with most vehicles you can find a good spot to make a hole. You can purchase a grommet to fit the hole you are making, or just goo it with silicone so the power line will be knick free and secure. Pull back the needed carpet and mating. You may even find a wiring harness under there that connects through the firewall, if so, you may be able to squeeze through the side of it.
