i have a Pentax 7.1mp with 3x optical zoom. the lens does not retract. when i turn the camera on, it turns off about 2 seconds later....help

Identical problem. Turns on, zooms then turns off, all in about 3 seconds. Still under warranty. Do I take back to Wal-Mart or send to repair center?

same problem, lens will not retract, and camera powers off while beeping after a few seconds. Have contacted Pentax tech support, but have not yet heard back....

Camera turns on, lens extends then retracts and camera turns off. All in about 2 seconds.

I'm looking for a solution to this too. The repair is going to cost more than the camera did. SUCKS!!!
