IPod not detected at all

Connect the iPod shuffle USB cable connector into a high-power USB port on your computer.
Note: To charge an iPod shuffle battery, connect the device to a high-power USB port.

Please be aware that USB keyboards and non-powered USB hubs generally do not have high-power USB ports.

If you connect to a low or non-powered port, iPod shuffle will not charge.

The computer must be turned on and set to not go to sleep.

Plug the other end of the iPod shuffle USB Cable into the headphone port on the iPod shuffle.

Verify the iPod shuffle is connected securely.

Once the iPod shuffle is plugged in, it will take about 2 hours to charge the battery to 80% capacity and about 3 hours to charge it to 100%.

How to Fix an iPod Shuffle That Won't Turn On

The iPod Shuffle is the smallest member of Apple's line of MP3 players. During the device's lifetime, you may find that the iPod freezes or seems to not turn on anymore. Since the iPod Shuffle does not have a display attached to it, you cannot be notified of any device errors. However, there are several troubleshooting steps you can take to repair your iPod.


Instructions


Plug the iPod USB cable into the iPod Shuffle and then connect it to the power adapter to recharge the iPod's battery. The iPod Shuffle may not be turning on because its battery has fully drained.


Move the button on the back of the iPod Shuffle to the "off" position.


Wait five seconds with the iPod in "off" mode before switching the device back on. This process will reset the iPod Shuffle memory.


Connect the iPod Shuffle to your Mac or PC computer if it still will not turn on.


Open the iTunes program and sync your iPod with your computer. When you unplug your iPod from your computer, it should turn on normally again.

just connect the i pod with the usb cable supplied with it to the computers usb ....and your p.c will detect a new device and will install the required drivers ..now when the driver installation is finished you can simply transfer your files on that device from your computers hard drive by using send to,copy/paste options after you are done you can unplug the device using safely remove hardware ...and enjoy music on your i-pod shuffle....

try sync-ing it to anothe pc or usb port, it happens sometime after prolong sync's

Try a different USB port first. Here are some other suggestions:
Connect iPod shuffle to a high-power USB port on your computer. iPod shuffle may
need to be recharged.
â Make sure you have installed the latest iTunes software from

â Try connecting to a different USB port on your computer. Make sure iPod shuffle is
firmly seated in the dock. Make sure the USB connector is oriented correctly. It can be
inserted only one way.
â iPod shuffle might need to be reset. Turn iPod shuffle off, wait five seconds, and then
turn it back on again.
â If there is no status light (or the status light is dimmed) and iPod shuffle doesn’t
appear in iTunes or the Finder, the battery may be completely discharged. Let

â Try restarting your computer.

Here's the laptop explanation - most laptops do not have USB 2.0 ports. When you plugged iPod in, the laptop tried to compensate for this fact by devoting the rest of its system resources to the iPod, causing a shutdown. Make sure you have a USB 2.0 port or card. Also, update the firmware - that can sometimes fix the issue.

If the status light blinks orange when you press a button, the iPod shuffle buttons are
disabled. Press and hold Play/Pause (’) for about three seconds, until the status light
blinks green.

Never discount the possibility of a simple poor electrical connection (or a busted usb plug on the shuffle - you didnt yank at it, did you?)

Try to swab out the inside of the usb plug on the shuffle.. 99% rubbing alchohol is best. A qtip might fit, if squashed a bit
