is there any other way to solve the audio problem? after i install win xp sp3 in my acer aspire 5550,i get stuck in installing audio driver.i have download the driver from many website even in acer.com, but still cant solve it..please give me some idea..

Visit the manufactors website and find the updated file needed for the sound, You will find it needs a update from microsoft a KB file is missing or needed.Also try microsoft update.Hope this helps

Here's how I got Acer realtek hi def audio to work on my 4720z;

force install of microsoft uaa bus driver from xp install disk, or search MS. 'cos of the Intel/Realtek audio chip, vista recognize and adjust but xp do not. Once that bus driver is installed, you can run Acer XP Real tek driver and do the install.

note; during the xp find, might request you install bluetooth, CIR, and HDA modem.

hi...after breaking my head for 2 days i was able to solve the issue by trial and error ... go to device manager and uninstall realtek high definition driver... then go to add or remove programs in the control panel and uninstall realtek high definition audio driver software .. restart the system and try to install the audio driver form the given CD... it should work...
if not uninstall bluetooth device also and try again...

This worked on 420z for me and xp sp3;

install microsoft uaa bus driver from xp install.

I had to load blutooth driver and hda (agere) modem and cir (winbond) driver as well, BUT after install ms uaa bus it finally asked for hi def audio. Hooray!!!

go to acer realtek audio xp driver, install, reboot.

I CAN FIX THIS........

After installing the appropriate driver, it won't work untill you do the following.

Here is what you do..........go and download from realtek's website the driver for high definition audio from realtek. then.....after the appropriate driver is installed, restart the computer.

Then go to your device manager (right click on "my computer" - go down to properties, click on the "hardware" TAB, click on "Device Manager, go down to System devices and click on the little plus sign in there.

There should be an asterisk or an exlamation mark by something called "PCI Device."

Double click on it, and when it asks if you want to re-install the drivers, DO IT.

Restart the computer after you click on re-install drivers.

and VOI LA.........the sound card works.

   here is the deal,
   
   the dolby speakers won't work with xp.
   
   HOwever, the realtek audio should.
   
   I will upload the drivers that worked for my 4720z within a week.
   
   when I have them uploaded ,I will post the link here.

Reformat your hard drive
Reinstall your windows XP
Now here is the magic: open your Acer Resource DVD and install the Realtek Audio Driver before all others drivers ( even before the chipset driver ).
