Question about Metz Mecablitz 60CT4 TTL Flash

1 Answer

Metz 60ct-4 Hello and thank you for your time in answering my question. I need a diffuser for my flash. No one has it. Do you think if I took my flash to a company that makes plastic, that they could make me one. What are the diffusers made of, what type of plastic. Could you name someone, like Gary Fong, that could make one. I've tryed one of those softboxes that have the velcro, but the guide thats atop of the metz is in the way for the velcro. Please help if you can.

Try using lady stocking, just place over the flash.

Can use a used large cup of noodle (Chinese Noodle Soup). Get the foam noodle cup, not the plastic. Then cut the bottom to match the flash head(cut a little smaller than the head). If they come with a white lid, just put the lid over the cup, a bowl. Now you have a nice diffuser with a larger flash head for much softer light. You can still use lady stocking ( any colors, but black) over the bowl. If no lid, just go to a art store and buy some cheap cleared or colored paper (what we photographers called, "Filter"). You can crumble the paper up and then place over the bowl with a rubber band or electrical tape. If you purchased the clear paper (filter) then use Vaseline or anything placed over it.

I make and sell diffusers that are better than Gary's and others.
I services, modifies and repairs medical & photo equipments.

Hope they are helpful.

Thank you for reading and any comments, please do so to my e-mail.

Yes, the 60CT-4 works with the Pocketwizards.
Yes, they will work by connecting the Metz's cable into the PC of your camera.

To get longer life out of the flash tube, don't use full manual all the time. Like shooting more than 300 in less than 15 mins/day.
Just dail those number down.

Metz Flash Power?

Hi Tom,

The battery is Metz Accu 60-38 4.5Ah at 6VDC
VRLA Battery 100 20 4010

Any Pb battery at 4.5Ah or higher will do.

Flash doesn't fire properly at regular position

Did you buy this used or new?

If used: neck has broken/shorted wires.
Try fires with the Test Button in A mode with hand blocking sensor and then without. Move head around.

If I can help.

Metz 60-4 flash takes much longer than normal for the ready light to come on to allow me to take another photo.

It is likely the capacitor in the battery pack. If they are not powered up every month, they dry out resulting in long power up and recycle times. You'll need to get it replaced to rejuvenate your 60 CT-4 to its original spec.
