Question about Linksys Wireless-N WRT150N Router

3rd party firmware broke my router!

I have a linksys WRT150N, and I installed some 3rd party firmware(dd-wrt) to try to make it act as a wireless bridge. It failed to work, so I'm attempting to upload the linksys original firmware which I downloaded off the linksys site. However, the dd-wrt firmware refuses to let me upload the linksys image. Any ideas?

When I setup the unit as a repeater, after rebooting it freezes and looses the connection. I have tried several times and aloways get the same results. e-mail

This normally has to do with wireless encryption. If you use WPA encryption disable it and enable WEP or, for the time being, no encryption. Then retry.

Most routers do not support repeaters while using WPA wireless encryption. It is a known fact. Only way around that, is to install 3rd party firmware if your router supports it, such as Tomato or DD-WRT (my favorite).

Linksys WRT160N Connection Issues.

Sadly, this router has horrible reviews and is known for this problem:

Can you return it for another model?
Can you getLinksys to replace it?

the best one is the LINKSYS WRT54GL, but if you are stuck with the one you have...

If you have tried all these things and you are very brave (or don't care if you need to buy another router) why not try flashing it with an after market O/S?

Connection Drops . wrt150n disconnecting

This is a firmware issue with the newer Linksys routers, and most people are having the same issue. Don't expect a stable firmware release from the manufacturer any time soon.

Instead, if you want to fix the problem properly, head on over to and install their firmware. I did this in a last ditch effort before throwing out my router, and now the router hasn't acted up for more than 10 days.

Be sure to follow the instructions when flashing firmware, several of the steps are critical to not "bricking" your router. As usual, make sure you are on a WIRED connection, as flashing from a wireless connection is guaranteed to kill your router. When flashing dd-wrt's firmware, you must also first flash a "mini" or "micro" version before flashing the full version.

Configure wrt54g2

IF you mean "File Sharing" as in your own network of PC's on your network, then all you need to do is turn off sharing option within windows. Your router will not set sharing your folders, drives, printers, etc.

Check your windows setting in "Networks", then "Sharing" and set the appropriate options for your needs.

Hope that helps.

Linksys N router drops signal

Its not dropping you because of the spectrums, it works on line of sight. If you are in a basement and your router is upstairs it has to go thru a floor and the strength is weakened. Go into your router and increase the signal strength. But you have to mod your firmware.

Here is a link to update your firmware.

Wrt150n dd-wrt firmware slow loading pages

First off thanks for using

Second, I too am a dd-wrt user and found a similar problem when using dd-wrt with my IPCOP. You may want to go into the "Security" section of your dd-wrt and disable any fire walling or access-restrictions. Since you are already running zonealarm. Or remove zonealarm if you plan to use dd-wrt as your firewall.

Running multiple firewalls will slow down your network/Internet traffic.

Hope this helps you out.
