Exactly as previous problem was described, the set turns on but turns off right away. Tried hitting and thumping set, and problem went away for awhile but now not even that works. Could it be a problem with the power supply?

same deal, only sometimes I can watch mine for a few hours, other times it wont come on at all (but the red indicator light is on, and I hear it power up)

The problem started with the tuner having problems after warming up for an hour. Channels between 38 and 47 would stop working. Not always the same, sometimes 40 to 47. Now, the channel problem still exists, but shortly after the channel problem starts, the set turns itself off. Let it cool off and it will start again with the power button.

Same issue. TV is about five years old and only recently have we had this 'shut off' thing start. It started to happen more often... now it only attempts to turn on before shutting right off. I guess I'm going to fork over some money to get somebody out to look at it....

Tv automatically powers off by itself within seconds.

This model has a self check: with the set plugged in turn it on--green power light comes on and a few seconds later goes off.

On front of set press and hold BOTH the menu and input buttons at the same time for at least 5 seconds and release both buttons.

Power light will blink a 2 digit error code like 2 blinks, 2 blinks, a pause and repeat it several times.

Let me know what error code you find and I will tell you what it means.

TV turns on, then turns itself off about 2 seconds later.

set has a self diagnostic---after set does shut down press and hold MENU AND DEVICE(INPUT) buttons on front of set for 5 seconds----if 2 blinks, a pause and 2 more blinks: this is short protection error code---The set does use 2 Stk394-250 and each is protected by a pico fuse in the power supply---if either fuse is blown the set will shut down(it detects no voltage or missing voltage;) It is not uncommon for a shorted IC to cause this problem; if you locate the STK's look carefully at the resistors around them---if any are discolored or burnt---you have found your problem.

Curtis lcdvd2223a powers on for a second then turns it's self off

Sounds like "Protection Mode". The TV automatically turns itself OFF when a part inside the TV has failed. This mode keep the other electronic parts from being damaged. Most likely the TV has a power supply related problem. It's possible that it maybe a bad capacitor or transformer on the power supply board. But, I can't say it's 100% the problem because I can't actually look at the tv over the internet. I can only make guesses with the symptoms.

You have a few choices:

1. You can try leaving the TV unplugged for 30 - 45 minutes so the TV can discharge and reset itself.
2. If by chance the TV is still under warranty, go that route.

3. If you have some electronic experience, if you can find and purchase a Service Manual over the internet; It will help you diagnose the source of the problem and fix it by soldering in the new part. The Service Manual will give you circuit diagrams, schematics, test points, and part# lists.Usually, cost under $20. And most cases the new part cost less than $15 by searchingon the internet with the part number.

4. Pay a TV shop to do the repairs. It maybe costly, but get an estimate of how much they will charge. That way you can decide if it worth repairing or replacing the whole TV.

I hope I shed some light on the subject for you.

Mitsubishi VS-50707 shuts down sporadically

you can do a self-diagnosis test by pressing the menu and input/device button on set for 5 sec and see what error code it gives you. Count the blinks followed by a short pause then more blinks. This is the error code.

TV turns off

That sounds like a power board problem if im not mistaken where your power cord plugs into the tv there is a board it connects to often times if u plug the tv in and it starts itself or turns its self off its the power board that needs to be replaced which btw is not cheap at all
