The defrost on your model is began by the part=>
67001036 Defrost Timer All of this is hiding behind the controls=>
Amana ARS2464BW Side by Side Refrigerator Control Panel Hope not to confuse you but we begin here and sometimes just getting the location is very helpful. I want you to find a hole that may be covered by a plastic plug that leads to the timer control in the photo below. Using a flathead screwdriver I want you to slowly turn the timer clockwise until you hear the compressor and fans stop. This should mark the beginning of forced defrost for your model. This begins the cycle of defrost on your timer that should last about 20 to 25 minutes every 8 hours three times daily. Once defrost starts the defrost heater inside the back wall of freezer should begin to heat up. If your timer does not come out of defrost simply turn clockwise again a little and this will manually get the timer out of defrost Opening the freezer door and listen for the sound of cracking or sizzling. If for some reason you get defrost when you do this then you need to replace the Defrost timer part Number 67001036 Click Here=>
