Question about Dell Inspiron 2200 Notebook

2 Answers

One day, i found the working conditioned LAPTOP DELL PP19L did not function i.e. the input voltatage 19.5V DC did not enter the board from adopter. because, somewhere, it is found that there is a short circuit of +ve and -ve voltage. To the result, the glowing LED in the adopter did not glow and stopped when the power socket of adopter is connected to the LAPTOP. So, it is simply assumable that there must be some short circuit of voltage somewhere.

Also, the adopter is removed and switched on the battery pack, ispite of this, laptop did not get on. Then, when checked the battey pack with multimeter, it is in fully charged condition.

But, i don't know why it is not working. Kindly help me to troubleshoot the problems and suggest me the guidelines to rectify the problems occured.

thanking you,

with regards,

Thanks for the response. But i have to state that I have already obtained the support link web, as u have pointed it now. When going through that manual, I can only get how to get the set dismandled and with only a few guidelines, it has been described, without any circuit diagram and tracing methods and guidelines to the point, it is required; now.

So, if you will kindly further guide me to trouble-shoot it by seeing the circuit diagram of the particular portion in the PCB, step by step, it will be easy to trace the error and rectify it positively. Kindly oblige with further guidelines.

thanking you,

with regards,

Sounds like the charging circuitry is faulty. I was looking at the service manual and it looks like it is on the motherboard.
Here is the online manual, see what you think.

My dell laptop doesnot work proberly if we power on a dell laptop. adopter let should be off then remove from the lap power will be on. whats the problem

If thelaptop battery is more than 3 - 4 years old then the battery could be worn out.Rechargeable batteries have a finite number of charge and discharge cycles andwill lose their charge capacity over time, i.e. won't charge to 100% andgradually the charge reduces until the battery won't charge up at all. OR Thebattery shows a 100% charge but when the adapter is disconnected the batterydrops off to zero capacity in a very short time. If the battery drops to anunacceptable charge level then the battery needs to be replaced.

My dell D820 laptop is shorting out the power adapter. Whenever I plug in the adapter, it shuts down via short circuit protection. I verified that the adapter is good. I have stripped down the laptop and...

It is most likely the DC connector. Take it off the system board and clean the solder joints, then replace it.

Laptop will not charge. After wiggling the cord

That's a short in the power input section of the motherboard- I've found, much to my dismay, that the power input/charging circuit on these laptops is not a separate circuit board as it is on some other models, but is a small area of the motherboard itself. You'll either need to have someone repair the motherboard or replace it entirely.

Dell latitude d620 power on password can't remove

No need to short out any pins, shorting out pins allow you to reset the BIOS quickly. When you leave the BIOS/CMOS battery out overnight, this will reset the BIOS (you only need to leave the battery out for 1/2 + hour to do the same thing).

Power problem with dell latitude.

This is a failed power management system on the motherboard. The power management system regulates the power input, usage, allows the machine to switch from AC t battery, and controls the charging. When this fails it can cause problems ranging from battery not charging, power on battery only, power on AC or battery but not both, no power at all, and more. You will most likely have to replace the motherboard, however, there are a few places that do circuitry and component repairs on motherboards. Google motherboard repair facilities, get an estimate, and compare the price to a new board.
