Hi,

This method will hard reset the wireless drivers back to default settings, but before you perform this remove power from the modem and router for 2 minutes reconnect power and wait another 2 minutes for them to settle down.

Right click "computer" select "manage" and then "device manager", a list will populate, then click on the + sign next to "network adapters" and right click on the wireless adapter and "uninstall" the device, reboot the PC and wait for windows to detect the wireless card and install the drivers for it, this will appear in the system tray (bottom right hand side) when its done try to connect again.

Good luck

When i turn on the labtop,I can't get any web sites

Check -
- your wireless switch/button is on (not all laptops have switches)
- your internet modem is working (on-off reset sometimes helps)
- do a virus scan (some bugs kill connection)
- check firewall not blocking internet
- have you used correct wireless password (old windows version don't report bad password - just prevents connection)
- best to connect via cable (setup wireless after confirm internet is good) cable is also faster (do speedcheck with and again with wireless to see wot I mean)
- use another pc/device to test internet (mobile, wii, psp, etc)
- download free and run ccleaner (junk clean out) and spybot (malware finder)
- check in device manager for any problems
- are you in range of wifi (no brainer, but had to mention)
- try system restore to before problem occured

I just got a labtop and i would like to install linksys notebook adapter to the labtop how do i install linksys without internet to my labtop?

Well first of all you need the drivers installed before the adapter will work. If you do not have internet then you must go to the Library or a friends home that does have internet, click on this link and download the drivers to a thumb drive or burn to a cd or dvd. after than insert the media into your laptop and install from the thumb driver or cd, here is the link hope this helps. :) http://homesupport.cisco.com/en-us/support/adapters/WPC54G/download You will find the download link toward the bottom of the page.

I need to gain a passphrase to set up my internet on my labtop. How can I get this passphrase? I never set one up for my labtop and now I can't gain access to my new internet provider because of this...

Check the manufacturer's website for the default access to the router configuration (maybe "admin" and "password") but I think the newer transmitters come wirth the wifi disabled out of the box and you need to configure it before you can use it.

If someone else configured it for you you'll have to do a factory reset and reconfigure the whole thing over again..

Ethernet Cord for Router?

Hi,
I want to tell you that how can you get your password back or reset your wireless password.

1. Work on your wired computer which is connected with the netgear router using ethernet cable
2. Make sure on the rear side of your netgear router you can see four ethernet slots and one internet slot.
3. One internet slot is only for your ISP modem and rest of the four slots you can use any computer to connect with that using ethernet cable.
4. Click on start - Run - then type in "cmd" press enter and you will get black screen. under the black screen just type "ipconfig" you can see some information on your screen search for default gateway numbers.
5. Once you get default gateway open IE and type those numbers without anything else then press enter.
6. It will ask you for user name and password by default "admin" and password is " password "
7. Once you click ok it will open netgear setting page
8. On the left side you can see wireless setting which is under "setup" then click on that option
9. On the middle of the screen you can scroll down that page at the bottom you can see your security key or passphrase.
10. Or you can type new password on the same screen and apply those settings
11. Now try again to connect your device wirelessly enter you existing password or new password which you have setup.
12. Make sure one thing more on the left hand side you have option called "Router Status"
13 Once you click on that at the middle of the screen show you router status and you can find the option called "internet port"
14. We are getting ip under internet port
15. If we re getting ip address then you can simply try to connect wirelessly otherwise please run setup wizard to configure your router. you should getting ip under internet port.

I believe these steps help you to resolve your problem

Thanks & Regards.

Router

Try this:

1.on computer, open Internet Explorer
2.On the address bar, type 192.168.1.1
3:Once it prompts you for a username and password , do not type anything on the username and type "admin" on password
4.Once you are on the page, click on "wireless" tab
5.Look for Wireless Network Name (SSID) and if it’s still set to ‘linksys’ change it to something unique then click Save Settings.
6.After changing your SSID, try changing channels to get around interferences. Preferred channels to use are 1, 6 and 11 since they are considered non-overlapping channels.
