Itues Says it Cant read SIM

OK so i pluged into itunes and it notifed me of upgrade, so I did. After my phone stared working really slow so I decided to downgrade back to 2.2.1. Well after I hit restore. itunes says it cant read my SIM or I need to use a supported SIM etc... The phone is broken and still says Tmobile in the upper left hand conner. but other then that the phone only shows graphic to plug my phone into itunes. Please Please help.
