Re: problem getting patio heater to light

The little tube that is in the path of the flame is a capillary tube that houses a thing called a j-k thermocouple. it is nothing more then a millivolt generator that produces a very small dc voltage that actuates a very small electromagnet in the main valve. when you start the unit you need to push in a button, correct? when you release the button the valve should stay open, but you say it doesn't. the millivolt generator needs to be replaced. try doing a search for "dynaglow" heaters or www dot desatech dot com for a new generator.

I have afrontgate propane patio heater and the pilot lights but when I try to put it into position to warm it goes out and will not stay lite.

Most common problem is a worn thermocouple, this will cause the pilot to light but go out when turned to full. There can be other issues but start by changing the thermcouple as these generally last between 2 to 6 years. If it still has problems check the tilt switch by shorting it out, found this site very useful, patio heater problem solving.

All Pro patio heater modle SPC54PHW, PHB, PHT, PHS. Pilot will not light and burner will not light.I installed a new regulatoe, propane tank is full. Took the gas pipes apart from bottom to top and no...

If your propane tank has an OPD valve.. in other words if when the tank is disconnected and you open the tank valve and no gas's an OPD valve..these are pretty much standard especially on the exchangeable tanks.

The problem sometimes is at the connection too of course must be an OPD connector to depress the internal ring on the tank valve before any gas will come out.

Chances are the knurled knob is either cross threading or is cracked..and won't snug up enough to depress that internal ring on the tank valve. Or you have miss matched components.. unlikely if you bought genuine replacement parts.

The All Pro Heater you have requires a specific part (fitting) to be added when using a universal regulator (Part number 6122) which is a 3/8 connector male.

This of course is assuming you hear no gas hissing.. cannot light it manually..

Sounds simple..but I have seen this problem on outdoor BB'Q's many times.. cracked knob on the connector hose and a few times simply backing it off and putting it back on.. tight enough to depress that ring..

Best of luck!

We have a Phoenix professional patio heater that the pilot light will not light.

If the pilot will not light at all, then first check to make sure your propane cylinder is not empty. Second disconnect the tank and reconnect, but very slowly turn the tank valve back on and try relighting it again. Third, if the above two do not solve it, then get a can of compressed air (like you use to clean computer keyboards) and blow out the dirt/spiderweb from the pilot orifice, where the pilot flame normally lights. It may just be plugged/dirty. Douglas

Kirkland outdoor heater will not stay lit

The thermocouple is bad. That is the part right next to the pilot light that sense's the flame and hold the gas valve open to the pilot. Take the old thermocouple off and go to hard ware store and get a 18" one of what ever length you need and replace. 5 dollar part.

Charmglow patio heater

Well, I just went out this morning and worked on the heater after it would not light last night. Turns out that a spider or moth set up camp in the pilot light intake housing and plugged up the two small mixer holes that pull in air for the pilot light. This would explain the 'yellow-flame'. I took a punch awl and some compressed air and cleaned out the hole, then re-installed the cover and knob. Lastly, I turned and depressed the knob and the pilot light ignited almost instantly, stayed on when I let the knob up, and the heater turned on normally after that. Good luck, I hope this helps.
