I have had this problem myself with my own Xbox 360. From my experience, I have noticed that the issue is usually caused due to the Xbox not being able to read the disc. This could be due to the laser inside the Xbox is dirty or damaged - or it could be the disc itself. I never attempted to repair this because I found that after about 5 or more tries, my Xbox was able to read the disc.
When you open the tray to put the disc in or to try and get the Xbox to read it, try rotating the disc a little bit and insert again.
If this doesn't work, you may need to contact Microsoft technical support for further assistance.
If this happens to all discs, then the xbox's lens could hardly read the discs because it need cleaning. You need to run a disc cleaner and let it spin on the xbox for like 30 seconds then try again. If it does not work, then you need to clean the lens manually inside the xbox which would require you to open the casing. Then get a swab, damp it to an alcohol and gently wipe in the lens surface in a circular manner. Let it dry and return everything back. The try playing those discs agian.
You need to either clean the laser or replace the dvd-rom drive.
Both of these cases involve opening up the console and voiding any warranty Microsoft offer.
First you need to determine if its not reading a certain type of disc, or not reading any disc at all, if iys not reading any disc at all, it may have grime or dirt on the laser causing the problem.
You can clean the laser with a clean cue-tip or cotton swab, by opening the console, removing the dvd-rom drive and then opening the dvd-rom drive case to expose the laser.
If after cleaning the laser it still does not read discs, you need to replace the dvd-rom drive. I hope this helps. Good luck.
I had the same problem with my old Xbox 360. The only way to fix it is the either open it up and clean the disc laser inside the Xbox (which voids your warranty), or you can send it in for repairs by calling 1-800-4MY-XBOX, or by going to xbox.com. It'll take about 1 month to get it back. Hope this works!
Just open the tray close it clean the disc turn it inside again it will work, i alway get this with CoD:WaW. But with all my other games it just works fine maybe there is something wrong with your disc and the console cant read it change it for another one sell it and buy a new one or just try my solve problem. Hope this helped!
