MC5040..You have a third party application that is locking you out of the OS...This done by companies so that it will connect to there intenal servers right away. And keep the employee out of the normal OS ...So the cannot change settings or access the internet.
#1 You would need to have a MC50xx charge/ comm. cradle ...which connects to your computer by USB.
Next you would need to download Active Sync on your computer.
..Put the MC5040 in the cradle and your computer should sense it thru active Sync.
Next establish the communications and go to applications...Remove everything in start up under applications and then go to the windows tab and remove all under startup.
remove the MC5040 and do a cold reboot....Which is hold down the power button / right hand scan button and then press the reset button (which is locates on the back side just below the battery release slide.
You can find a manual and reload software for unit on Motorolas web site under mobile computers / software download / MC50XX
You can also do a full OS reload by down loading the correct software from there and transfering to an SD card, and then installing the SD card into the slot (On Top) of your unit and navigating to the card and starting the upload file.
When choosing the correct software...Remove your battery and look at the Microsoft label on the unit itself...Probably PPC 2003 Premium.

Sounds like the internal software of the phone/pda would need to be updated or re-loaded.
Motorola can do this at almost any service center.

I suppose it has a micro version of windows here,something like windows ce.I would suggest a fresh install of the operating system or check if there is any o/s installed on the storage drive.Remember to re-install you may need a licence key and some ways of changing boot up sequence etc..This may not seem as easy as it seems.Hope this clear your mind...

Looks like you need the operating system reload and in saying that I take it came with a install disk witch you can reinstall the system software. This will shore up 99.98 percent of these types of issues with Windows CE software.

HI emmision, don't know if you got my last one as it doesn't show in the log, however your generic solution won't help me as I can't get out of the app, and can't stop if from loading. it seems well protected
Symbol mc5040 - need to figure out how to flash or to get to windows os - the application on it loads fast, is well protected and I can't exit it, pretty much goes straight to 3rd party application and can't get out, tried a hard reset, tried to get to it via cradle/my computer/windows explorer - nothing seems to get me in or out of the application.

hithere, there is no install disc - on these types of devices, the os is the ROM - you can load it from a disc, you have the Flash the phone/device
I have been trying to use some exe files to change/modify the os/ & clean applications programs. You do this by loading to an sd card, special cold boot, allows you to execute files on the card.
When executing any files and i"ve tried a bunch,it gets a ;

if someone would take the time to really read it,they'll understand that I can't load a bit/byte much less than an os.
