    Hi Microwavesvc,
this model goes back 3 years and is discontinued.
All three Danby service dealer i have called do not want to even try to fix because its discontinued. I cannot even get the magnetron from Danby because its discontinued.
I have met a local ''appliance'' tech who was willing to give it a shot.
He found a ''generic'' ,magnetron ( same specs ) in Colorado.
It was installed, giving the status ''STAGE'' on the display.
The ''dummy'' type user guide is incomplete and worthless.
What i need is a ''service manual'' which a cannot find anywhere.
A service manual would probably point me to a combination of digits on the keypad that would ''reset'' the unit.
I have submitted this issue to Danby service to be told that a tech would call me back with an answer, ....which was not the case.
Danby makes cheap products and don't stand behind what they make.
    thank you Microwavesvc for responding

I removed the bolts for my Danby OTR microwave. Dmw162w-otr. The microwave does not move. Are there any other bolts or is there anything I am missing before I can remove the microwave?

In a normal installation, there is a plate that mounts to the wall and bolts come down through the cabinet. Once the bolts are removed from the cabinet above mic, the mic should hindge forward. It takes two people to handle. How ever, in some cases an installation guy will add screws into the side of the unit. So look for some screws to the right and left of mic. Good luck!

How to disassemble a kenmore elile microwave

Got a model number? Is this an over-the-range (OTR) microwave oven or a countertop microwave? It makes quite a difference. Also, why do you want to "disassemble" the microwave? Do you want to get to the control board, replace a lightbulb, replace a fuse, replace the turntable motor, or replace the magnetron?

My Whirlpool MH6150XHQ OTR microwave is dead. Checked circuit breaker and outlet with no problems there. Can't get any power- light won't turn on, nothing on display, etc. I'm hoping there may...

Make sure that the program controller is working if not check power - step down supply, the pads are responding- if not faulty pads- or the door switches, if the switch contact are not good then it will not trigger the processor to switch on the waveguides. If the lights or fan work without any display or action of program being triggered to start then it can be a possible fault on the main board or the processor. Sometimes insect secretion can short the board and display panel and so the processor can work in such an erratic manner. If so clean, solder and reset the board. Now identify the parts by clicking this link:

If there is no heating please do not switch on unless you have confirmed the fault. It is possible that the Magnetron is faulty, the temperature cut off is faulty or the main capacitor is short. It is also quite possible that insect can get into the oven and create soft spots. When you switch on these will create a short and make the voltage jump and in the long run damage the magnetron. Check this link to know how a microwave works:
So Remove cover after disconnecting , check for dirt/moisture in the cabin, if so wipe clean and dry, check the magnetron and area clean and use an jet air to clean off.

Hello, I have a Danby micrwave that is almost exactly a year old and it suddenly just stopped working. Seems to have no power at all, nothing works. Is there a simple fix or is it garbage already? ...

You can check the rear for a fuse. Also check the wall outlet by plugging something else in. If not, then as you say, it is not worth paying for repair.

I have the danby designer Mod DMW162W-ORT that won`t heat at all but everything else works. Hums a bit louder but will not warm.

The Magnetron in your unit is no longer resonating properly. The Magnetron produces the microwave frequencies and when it resonates properly, it will provide the excitation to heat your item(s). As well, the diode that accompanies the magnetron needs to be replaced as well. Should it be under warranty, take it back. Out of warranty? Have an appliance tech repair it (usually around $175) or get a new microwave.

This is typical for most microwaves. No such thing as quality any more.

I have Danby microwave, the food does not heat and there is smells like some thing is burnt. I have opened it and the high voltage transformer does not look burnt.

What is happening is that the magnetron is shorted, causing the high voltage transformer to overheat. That is what you are smelling is the insulation getting hot. When the magnetron shorts out, it makes a loud buzzing sound. Replacement magnetrons costs almost as much as a new oven so it rarely makes sense to fix.

My microwave will not heat up food.

HI. in most cases, this will lead to a failed Heating device(magnetron tube). It would be wise to check the Magnetron cutoff fuse to be sure of its integrity. if the fuse is blown, simply replace it. if the fuse continues to show continuity, replace the magnetron.

(((The fuse is located inside the unit along side the magnetron)))
