No sound and dvd does not work

-   My Acer does not have VIsta Basic, it has Vista premium. I too cannot get any sound from the machine, I tested the speakers, used different speakers, updated the drivers, and rolled back the drivers. Still no sound. When I test the speakers, I can see output occuring in the volume slider, just no sound. No devices are muted...............at my wits end with this machine! Any help would be awesome...........thanks!!!!!!!!-   Justin Bane
