LifehackerJul 15, 2011 - Cell phones and smartphones will differ in the menu options and buttons, but in general, the process of sending a text message to someone else's phone is pretty straightforward. From your phone's main menu find the "Messages" or "Messaging" option or application. Then select "Text Message" or "Text Messaging."

Whenever a sender sends you text messages, the notification just pops up automatically. You dont have to press anything to receive a text message. You just have to press the key where the "Read" message indicates.
You can disable the text message reading function by pressing the Menu button (the center OK button), going to Settings & Tools, select #6 - Phone Settings, and then #3 - Voice Command Settings. The first option is Text Message Readout -- you can turn it off and then hit OK to save the changes.
A voice call is simply the total opposite of a text message.
During a voice call, you dial the actual number on your pad, and you press the send button as well. this will initiate a (voice call). During the voice call, you are able to verbally express words to the other party, or recipient, via digital transfer. On most Samsung, you can initiate the VC, by typing the number, then pressing the voice call button on the touch screen to initiate the call. Pressing the voice call button is the same as pressing the send button after you enter the number of the recipient.
Go to the menu, select the messages icon, go down and select inbox, then go to the message you want and select read. Once you are reading the message, hit the down arrow to see when and what number the text is from or hit the up arrow to go to the previous message. As soon as you receive a text you can also just hit "read" as it appears.
While you're in the body of the text message you have received, look at the top of the screen. In the top right corner there is the home button, top left is the left arrow (to go backwards). Next to that arrow is a little face. Hit that and your messages will start being read by the phone.
You pressed the space button while in a message.... Hit the space button again when your in a message and it should shut off "audible text" where it reads you your text messages. (you'll notice the guys head on the space button)
