Question about ASUS P5B-E Motherboard

My Asus P5B-E will not reboot

I have a P5B-E Asus motherboard. I bought it recently, and it worked fine for long time. One day around four months ago. I updated the bios, and since that day, it will not boot into windows. This is how to get it to run. I unplug it, plug it back in, and then it will start. But I can't update programs, or windows, because I cannot reboot computer. I have to turn it off, unplug, plug it back in, that is only way it will start again. Please if someone could help me. Some friends say it is a windows problem, others say it is a motherboard problem. If anyone could please help me I would appreciate it so very much. This is horrible to not be able to update computer. Thank you every body.

I have same problem with Asus P5b-se with 2 stick 1 gb kingston. Upgraded to latest bios, but doesn't work....

I have just received new PC with ASUS P5B-SE.
Same problem, cannot reboot without toggling power supply.
Even so, I get the notorious "Overclocking failed " message...
Problem was the same in shipped CD-BIOS and in upgraded BIOS.
I'll try to find an older BIOS.

Arg, I have the same problem! I replaced the MB battery and it didn't help. I have Patriot Viper 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR2 800 ram and a E6850 3ghz processor. It worked fine for quite a while with problems gradually increasing in frequency. Sometimes it wouldn't post after a bios tweak, sometimes it wouldn't resume from sleep. Now it does those consistantly plus it won't reboot at all. I need to unplug the power and toggle the PS switch.

I replaced every component in the system and still had the problem. The MB has been recycled and replaced. Good riddance.

PLEASE HELP!!!! I have an Asus P5B Deluxe motherboard (Stack Cool 2 design with heat pipe) that I can't even get to turn on. Intel Core 2 Duo Processor 2.4ghz 1066MHz FSB, 200 GB hard drive, EVGA 6600 GT-256MB Nvidia graphics card, 2 sticks of 2GB ram (Kingston Hyper X) 4GB total ram, Brand new 650-watt power supply that I know works because it works with my old Biostar motherboard. When I hook it up to the Asus, all I can get to work is the little blue ASUS L.E.D. light on the board. PLEASE HELP, Much Thanx

I found the same problem on ASUS P5Q /e8400 core 2 with Kingston value RAM DDr2 800 MHZ.

Also on this board the previous mentioned Team Value work like charm. ^_^.

My previous P5B-SE worked with this ram on 800Mhz. Maybe is also the cpu ratio that didn't match with your ram.

This is how I fixed the problem, and it has never come back. I reinstalled windows, and it worked. I did try to put back old bios, but it always told me that an old bios will not work, you have put in new versions of the bios, never old, or at least that is the message that I got. Another thing to mention, my computer runs so much better now, all because I did not put any of the software for the Mother board on my computer, the software for the motherboard, is part of the problem, someone with no overclocking experience, fools with the program, and all of a sudden, we are told our overclocking effort did not work, and for the life of me, I did not over clock, but I did go into that program, and must have touched some setting. Again now that I have not put that program back on, my compuer runs better then ever. When I say program, I am talking about the programs that came with the Asus mother board, to over clock it, to watch the heat, and run the fans, for me, I can live with that any of those programs, and since not putting it back on, computer runs like a race car. Yippee Hope I have helped someone else out there like me. Thanks to every one that tried to help me, thank you all

I would update the bios, uninstall the drivers for the ports, download the latest, and reboot. If the machine recognizes the ports, it will begin searching for drivers. Interrupt the search and manually install the drivers. If this does not good, I would reinstall the operating system. Also, use the drivers from ASUS...

Want to run both Raid 5 (4 drives) and a single SATA boot drive

Download the latest beta BIOS 1238. I had the same problem when adding a Samsung 1TB HDD to my RAID config. Updating to BIOS v1238 solved the Intel RAID Matrix "hanging" instantly.

You can't download it through the official Asus support page yet, but there's a topic in the Asus support forum with a link. You could also call Asus support and request the file, or just download it here: :)

Have you installed RAM? If not the machine will not boot. You may also need to enter the BIOS setup to set the CPU and DRAM voltages and multiplyers etc. Follow the instructions in the manual for setting up the CPU info in the BIOS. Are you sure your PSU has enough guts to run the setup? Many times have i seen setups fail because a cheap power supply has been overstretched.
