Internet Problems

posted by Dannyboy1234 on Dec 01, 2007

Hi , Im Daniel Aged 10. I Love Computers And Networking!

We have 5 computers and one laptop. 4 of the computers are not in use.

I have one Efficent Networks Model: 5861 Router and a HP 10Base-T Model: J3202A Hub.

Whenever my sister uses the computer and downloads and / or plays the radio from the internet ect... it slows my connection to the internet down completley!

When she stops using it it carries on being EXTREMELY SLOW!

Is there any cure to stop the slowness when my sister is downloading or when she has stopped it will stop being EXTREMELY SLOW?

Any help would be very appreiciated.

Daniel.

Hi Danny,
The easiest way to help your speed issue is to replace your hub with a small, inexpensive switch. Your speed will still slow down somewhat when the downloading is occuring but you may not experience the same amount.

Hope this helps..

Hi danny! It is obvious that when u r downloading the comp will be slow because most of the bandwidth is used for the download process..however u can empty the browser cache to make ur system run faster after listening to radio..Mozilla firefox has got the simplest procedure for this..I advise that u install it(its free!).then go to tools menu-> choose clear private data-> select only cache.. Thats all..Your cache will be free and your internet will be back to normal speed..
Regards,
VJ.
