02 cavalier with no spark on cyl 2 and 3

Ok 18month ago i had replaced the cam sensor map sensor and the icm then come to find out i had a loose connection in the column now it started by missing in 3 so i pulled off icm test ok then reassembled then multiple miss so i tried all the wires have spark in 1 and 4 but not on 2 and 3 so flipped flopped the coils and still only sparks on 1 and 4 so to recap tested wires, coil, and icm and still good but no spark in #2 and #3 cylinder mind that 1and 4 on one coil and 2 and3 on the other and coil r still good

Did u replace the wires? You might have power but a bad connection to the spark plugs or just bad spark plugs. just a thought

Code 303 on 2004 saturn ion #3 misfire, replaced spark plugs, Started up misfires,, It doesn't have a CPS edit by me (NG), it has no CMP sensor, cam sensor but does have virtual CMP for sure. learned

OK now 2.2l told. L61 is GM name real name.
ALL FUSEs checked first(ALL)
CPS is 1990 name is NOW CMP
crank sensor is CKP
stop reading web sites on 1990 cars, they are gone .

2.2L is not at all like the Turbo with 4 cops and CMP real.

also , 303 means this.
1: bad engine, cyl 3. weak bad compression
2: bad spark.#3
3: bad injector #3 swap with 4, and see of failure follows to #4.

2.2 L ) L61 GM only.

let me read the SM service manual on your L61 engine GM.
a 2 wires CKP crank sensors, that must not be bad. or all spark ends, not just #3 ever. CKP goes only to ECM. so we skip this/

The ICM runs a super strange, Ignition coil 4 in 1.
ALL IN ONE COIL PACK, FIRES 1,3,4,2 AND VERY HARD TO TEST, IN A GIANT SANDWICH COIL PACK. (PAINFUL THIS)
the CAM sensor is part off the ICM.
(virualized synthetic)
THE STATEMENT BELOW NO MATTER HOW ODD IS HOW IT DOES A VIRTUAL CMP SENSOR.

"The ICM detects if cylinder?1 or cylinder?3 is on the compression stroke by sensing the secondary voltage and polarity of each side of the ignition coil. The higher voltage is on the compressing cylinder. This is called compression sense ignition. The ICM provides a synthesized cam signal to the ECM based on these inputs. The ECM uses the cam signal to synchronize fuel injection. This system consists of the following circuits:"

If the ECM receives an intermittent CMP signal from the ICM, DTC P0341 sets."

compression sense ignition.! <<<< learn this first
if compression is bad on #3 the ICM WILL BE CONFUSED
that is why techs, check compression first.
and no EFI on earth can run a dead engine(mech. hard failed)
for sure this one in SPADES.

most cars do not use. compression sense ignition.
and this car can not do CMP unless engine is good first. see how that matters here so much.
I hope so.

2002 Ecotec 2.2 DOHC - No Pulse on Ignition Module

REDUX 1.
Why in the world post an engine and NO car told, yes 2002
DEAD WRONG IT HAS BOTH.!! VIN F TOO.

the CMP and CPK sensors both must be good and cam actually turns and cam timing in spec or the ECU cuts spark then cuts fuel..

cmp goes to icm and icm to pcm.2002 Ecotec 2.2 DOHC. no VIN F IS 2.4L AND VASTLY DIFFER\ENT

No spark on cyl 3 and 4

What engine ? 2.2 l or 2.4 L. You don't say if any codes are set. no P0303 - P0304 cylinder's 3 & 4 misfire ? or any other ? No the cam sensor wouldn't cause just two cylinders to misfire. The PCM triggers the ICM to turn on an off coil's to build up an collapse the primary voltage inducing the secondary voltage . This engine is equipped with a non-distributor ignition system called the electronic ignition (EI) system. The primary circuit of the EI system consists of the following components:
?€¢
Two separate ignition coils

?€¢
An electronic ignition control module (ICM)

?€¢
A crankshaft position (CKP) sensor

?€¢
Related connecting wires

?€¢
The ignition control (IC) portion of the powertrain control module (PCM)
Important: The camshaft position (CMP) sensor is only used for a misfire detection. It is not part of the ignition system. !

96 chevy cavalier had oil pressure issue. Later found it was due to bad crankshaft. Drive it to neighbors house and we pulled the engine and replaces the crank now once installed car is not getting any...

I ASSUME its a 2.2l VIN "4"? Better be SURE you put in the correct crank. Different years have different tone wheels for the Crank Sensor. If it ran before, it should run now. I think 2 wire connector is for power to coils Power to Pink wire comes from IGN fuse A. Pink is 12V, Black is ground, 6 wire plug is for ICM.(bolted to base of coil pack) cant bench test anything. Should be a code 42 if cranked for 5 seconds and no start if its a CKP issue.

I have a 94 Buick park ave. I replaced icm, ecm, tps, map sensor, cam position sensor, and crank position sensor. Starter tested good but not getting a spark. What can it be

Have you tried testing the ignition coil pack(s)? If this goes out then there wouldnt be any spark delivered to the plugs, this part is relatively cheap and is a common problem causing no spark.

Ok i had a p0302 and then i changed plug wires coil packs the icm injectors camshaft sensor and now i can a p0301 code.. and when i clear the code it will come back with the same code or else a p0300.. im...

1. Freeze Powertrain Control Module (PCM) and see if the problem can be duplicated.

2. Wiggle tug test wiring for #2 injector.

3. Scope the #2 injector for a glitch when the misfire happens. 1. Test for the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR)/coolant adapter gasket leaking EGR gases past the gasket.

2. Connect a vacuum pump to the MAP sensor, block the vacuum source, reset fuel trims, start the engine and add typical vacuum to the MAP sensor and check operation.

3. Test the spark output with 2 High Energy Ignition (HEI) testers, at 25 KV air gap each, at the spark plug wires to ground at wires 2 and 3, then 1 and 4 at cranking speed and engine running.

4. Test the fuel injector pulse width at the injectors compared to the scanner data.

5. Disconnect the O2 sensor, reset the fuel trims, test the system operation in open loop, test injector pulse width. Compare to the closed loop operation injector pulse width and engine operation.

6. Test the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) powers and grounds during the problem.

#4 cyl has no spark on initial start 10-15 mins later #4 cyl cuts in and engine runs normal. replaced s plugs, wires coil.

on a cavalier it usually is a problem on the wiring harness which could have a loose fitting to the actual connection to the spark plug boot to cylinder 4. check that ok?
