Re: need to do a system restore but can't

Go to and run the scan. If it finds a virus then try to remove it. If it cannnot remove a virus it finds then call Microsoft and they will help you remove the virus. You have to run a virus scanner and determine what virus you have first though.

No website connection.applications running slow or not at all.

The question is very vague. Is this a new problem? If it ran OK before, go to Accessories - System Tools - System Restore and pick a date that it worked OK on, the run System Restore.

A free utility "CCleaner" (with two "C"s) can be downloaded from . This FREE utility will first clean up your Windows files. Next go the Registry clean up and run the Registry Clean up. You do not need to make any choices in the Registry clean up. Just select to clean up and save a backup. In the Windows clean up you can chose to save or remove the cookies in the options list.

You should also be running a good Anti-Virus program. If not you can download AVG Free from the same place.

This should solve most of your problems. I've lost customers giving this advice as they didn't need to bring in their computers afterwards.

Finally you should De-Fragment you drive(s) to speed up file and program access. To run, go to your My Computer and right click on the hard drive. Select Properties, Tools, Defragment Drive.

There are many other good utilities and anti-virus programs out there. I just suggested a couple of easy to use reliable ones.

Can't log into my computer, says can't load my profile.

I am terribly sorry but if you cannot see the pics im afraid they MAY already be gone.

that is a VERY VERY evil virus.

Boot the computer up into safe mode (push and hold F8 on boot and use the up and down arrows to choose the options (if there is text saying click here for advanced boot options use that to get into safe mode.) Try to login using the account labeled administrator(no password) . once there try to recover your files and account (using control panel). click on start and then run now write in 'msconfig' and click run again. Now choose the startup tab, and then click disable all. - NOW click on the services tab, and then click on hide all microsoft services, then disable all the services that are not mircosoft. Hit apply then hit okay, THEN reboot.

This should disable the virus. If you cant find your files chances are they are gone. Im sorry

Cpu maxes out with nothing running then drops up & down

When you see this on a cpu there are a few causes most of which are just really annoying. This is software caused by a program or programs
and your hardware itself is fine. Normally any system will be at 0-2% cpu when you are not doing anything.

If you bring up task manager by hitting ctrl-alt-del then look at processes. Look at which is using the most cpu. It should be system idle or task manager. If you see something that is way up the for cpu then you can try stopping it by selecting it and then hit the end process button. If that is the culprit your system will instantly speed up. At the very worst you will cause your system to reboot so don't worry. If you do get the right one then do a search for the name to find out what it is. If it is a program uninstall or if it is a virus or malware then do a scan.

If it just started try to remember what you installed last. Then uninstall that. You may have to do this in safe mode (hit F8 on boot up until you see the menu and select safe mode) to get the computer to cooperate enough to let you do this.

Other causes can be anti-virus programs. If it just updated or you just installed this can be your problem. There are several out there that cause this exact problem and these are the well known good anti-virus programs. Again you need to uninstall the program. Download a new version if available or use a different one. We recommend one of the free ones like Avast home.

The third thing is usually spyware. These are sort of dumb computer viruses so they quite happily keep down loading more and more until you can have hundreds running at the same time and your cpu is maxed out. To get rid of these you need to scan your computer for both viruese or malware(spyware). If you do not have a antivirus program installed then I would be pretty sure this is the problem. There are several online scans that will scan and fix your pc. Housecall is one of these.

System slows down because of dvd rom problem

I suppose you could try to stop apps starting up with your system, sounds like you may have too much junk running with your system. It could also be that you have some malware on this DVD that's causing you problems.

Pc freezing up

There is a strong chance that you got something nasty which keep connecting on the net when you
are using these apps.

I suggest an online scan with Kaspersky and a malware scan asap.

About sound manager

It's probably some sort of virus. There's been no known existence in any system that creates .exe while moving or copying files unless its a virus loaded in memory monitoring file access. Virus is made to proliferate. Don't try to execute the .exe file and immediately scan your computers both desktop and mobile for possible additional existence of viruses by using dependable anti-virus software with latest updates - the anti-virus software will not be able to detect it if it's not on its latest virus database list & signatures.
