Question about Nextar Q3 GPS Receiver

1 Answer

Nextat C# GPS

When an address is entered into my Nextar C3 GPS and I try to "erase" a letter or number by pressing on the erase arrow on the keyboard display, (the erase arrow is located about 1/3 the way down on the right side of the display) instead of erasing the last letter or number, it writes a "g". Pressing the erase arrow again adds another "g", ad infinitum.

I have N O T inserted a flash memory card in the slot, all I care about is driving & location information.

I'm still under warranty (I think) but wonder if there is anything I can do to fix. Its seems to me it might be like rebooting a PC when a strange command creates a "bug" that cripples the PC.

Any thoughts?
Thanks, Jess

Go to, and enter contact to check for all updates and upgrades for your unit. I did the same to upgrade my Garmin maps. They did charge for the service, but it was well worth it. Best of luck.

How do you delete a letter when entering data

When the keyboard appears on the screen, there's an icon in the top right corner which is like an eraser on a pencil. Pressing this deletes the last letter. Keep pressing it to delete more.

When typing information on a garmin gps, what key do you press if you type the wrong letter or number to erase it so to speak and put in correct information

Each Garmin is a little different. There is a icon in the top left that looks like an eraser on most models. Just touch that to erase the character before the cursor.

Other units will have a left pointing arrow with a x in the middle. This is your backspace icon. Since each unit is different I suggest visiting GPSCity and downloading the manual for your specific unit for better clarification.

You can contact Nextar at to see if there is an update available ... but they haven't distributed any updated maps for a couple years from Navteq (who provides the maps to Nextar).

Tomtom 730 cannot enter address with a letter such as 2N124 If I enter just 124 I do not get the correct location. I can enter this on a Magellian gps and it works.

When you're typing the address, at the bottom of the onscreen keyboard is a button that toggles the alphanumeric characters from the alphabet to the numeric keypad. That should allow you to type in numbers and letters as needed.

Does that solve your problem?

Keying in street addresses

To find streets that are numerical, not names, enter the address normally to start. Enter the State, City, and House Number. When it asks you to enter the street, look at the bottom of the keyboard. You will see a key marked 123. Press this key, and numbers will show up instead of letters. Type in just the numbers (25 for 25th Avenue, etc.) and hit Done. The street should show as (25th (St., Ave., etc)). Press the correct entry.

Drop down menus in "Where To" of my i3 are not working.

WARNING: Resetting your device will erase all user data. You'll have to re-enter your custom addresses (or upload them from your computer.)

To erase all user data on the device, please follow these steps:
  1. With the unit turned off press and hold the thumb wheel down, then press the back arrow and hold down, then press the power button.
  2. When all 3 are held down a message will appear that reads "DO YOU REALLY WANT TO ERASE ALL USER DATA". Select "Yes".
  3. Let go of the buttons and go through the reset sequence. The unit will need to sit outside to acquire satellites.

StreetPilot c 340 does not allow to enter address

Ok, you've tried a reset, but have you tried a Master Reset? Doing this WILL ERASE ALL OF YOUR FAVORITES, but it may help. Turn the unit off. Press the "On" button with your finger on the bottom right of the screen at the same time. Release the "On" button, but keep pressing the screen until the unit asks if you're sure you want to reset all data. Press "Yes". See if this helps.
