Question about Canon PowerShot A85 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Deleted Pictures Hi,  I just recently went on a trip to London and took many pictures with my camera. On the last day of my trip, I turned my camera on and it said that there were no images available. Is there anyway I could possibly retrieve my pictures?

Your pics should be still there until you take more pics and overwrite them. Just remember not to take any more pics on that card just yet.
It's no problem at all to get them back. As an example, try the below linked freeware program. It's tiny to download (a little over 1meg), and very easy to use. You'll have your pics back in ten minutes after reading this:

Note that if this doesn't work directly with your camera, to then try it using a card reader.

I have a FinePix A345 camera and have had it for years. I took pics all day today and then when I went to look at them tonight, my camera read "card not initialized" I can't retrieve or take...

First take the memory card out of the camera. Pictures that have been deleted are probably still there, but will be overwritten if you take any more pictures on top of them.

Your camera is not able to undelete pictures, but there are programs for doing this on a computer. You can put the memory card into a card reader attached to a computer, and use an undelete program to recover the deleted files. Undelete programs are available for free download from the internet, try the one at THIS LINK

If the pictures are very important to you, you might want to seek help from an experienced person.

As I connect the camera to the computer, the recent pictures I to

From the question, I'm going to assume we're dealing with some kind of digital camera despite the fact that you posted the question in a film camera thread.

It seems as if the computer operating system or whatever program you're using is displaying cached thumbnails. For example, if you have a file named DSC_0003.JPG, the computer is showing you the thumbnail from the last file named DSC_0003.JPG it's seen. If there's a "Refresh" item in the menu (possibly in the View menu), try it and see if everything refreshes.

If that's not the problem, could you specify the make and model camera, whether you're connecting the camera to the computer or putting the card into a card reader, the computer operating system and version, and what program you're using to view your pictures.

I took lovelly photos on a recent trip, yet when I went to download the photos to my laptop there were NOT on the memory card. I have not accidently deleted all the photos as there are some old photos on...

SLR's don't have hard drives. Buy an inexpensive card reader to download your pictures to a folder you create on your desktop. See if that works.

My camera erased my pictures

These cameras have an internal store and also can use a card. So, when you add a card, it is writing to that store and only shows you the pictures stored there unless you change the device settings or remove the card.
If so, the images you have on the EasyShare One internal store may be originals
Another possibility is that you did a BragBook synch to EasyShare and you might be able to see these images in your 'Favorites' view. The 'Camera Favorites' or BragBook pictures are a smaller version of original images, to allow you to carry more pictures with you to share, but these pictures may be a lower resolution version of the images you took. They would be sufficient for printing 4x6 pictures, but not enlargements.
Change to Favorites mode to see if they show up that way.
Good luck!

Kodak md853

hi! my sister-in-law gave me a MD853 camera last week from Canada. I used it over the weekend when we went on a trip and the pictures and videos i took were great. Last night, my daughter took a picture of me and when she took a picture of her brother, there was only white on the screen...like a moving white sheet with colored edges. I thought she destroyed it or something. I tried to use it but now the screen is all black...last night only the video worked but this morning everything is black. The other programs in the camera works so i suspect the problem must be in the lens. I'm in the Philippines and if I send it back to Canada for repairs it would just take a long time and it will be expensive to send it back. What can I do? I really love this camera... help!!!

Memory card problem

Assuming your camera acts like a removable drive when connected to the PC try the following.

  1. Right click the removable drive(your camera) in my computer and go properties>tools>error checking>tick both boxes>ok
  2. Wait till it finishes and check if you can now view the contents of the card. And copy to safe place straight away.
  3. Try http://www.officerecovery.com/freeundelete/ to recover any deleted files or fragments of damaged files.
  4. Let me know if any of this works.

Pictures have colour cast

Sorry if this sounds obvious, but this might rather have to do with White Balance. Rather than relying on AutoWhiteBalance, try setting it to "cloudy" or "shade", this may help the blue cast.
