Microwave stopped heating

I have a built-in GE Monogram ZMC1095 series that just stopped heating. The lights/clock etc.. work just no heat. Is this something I can fix on my own?

Thank You,

Steve D

Same problem twice. First time they had to replace a board and it just happened again less than 11 months later.

Microwave oven stopped heating, and started buzzing loudly at the same
time. Convection oven heating still works. All controls
still work. Just no microwaves. Unit manufactured Jun 2003,
    failed Jan 2008.

My heating element has gone out 4 times in last three years. It's the Magnetron Tube. GE has finally offered to give us 20% off a replacement oven. Aren't they kind? There is no fix for this. If you replace the tube, it will go out again. Problem now if finding a unit to fit our hole without calling a carpenter.......

My ZMC1095 unit has a defective magnetron after only 18 months.

same problem. Manufacture date January 2004, failed November 2008. this is the 2nd unit with same problem.

Same problem as others - lights, fan (loud noise) and no heat. 2nd time we've repaired this.

We have a GE Monogram ZMC1095SF03 for 2 years and experiencing same problem. Loud noise and no heat! Our solution is to invest in other brand instead of fixing something that you know it will breaks again, unless GE would do some thing about it.

We have a GE Monogram ZMC1095 series microwave that's 1 and 1/2 years old. One day, it just stopped heating and makes a loud noise when you turn it on. It also smells like sometning is burning. Is this the magnetron tube???

Having the same problems. Repaired once but was never really working right. Does anyone know if there were any recalls or comsumer reports on this oven.

Same issue; burning smell; doesn't heat

Same as everyone elses. Did you replace your microwave or just keep fixing?

I have the same oven and the same problem. Oven was built and installed in 1999. A few years of use and the magnetron burned out. I had it replaced under the GE warranty program. Service man said new magnetron has a 15 year warranty. Now in 2009 oven failed again. I can probably have the oven repaired for the cost of a service call but I'm seriously considering replacing the unit with something more reliable. Shame on GE for not recalling this poorly designed appliance. I will never buy GE again.

I bought one built in Feb 2005, installed July 2005. Magnetron tube failed Feb 2007 - cost $127 labor to replace. Just failed again Feb 2008 - will cost roughly $135 to replace this time. Not good for such a high end machine!

Also, this is the second home we have had where the builder has used this "upgraded model" for the homes and it was also a problem in the last home......lesson learned. Once again shameon GE.

What is causing my ge single wall oven with built-in microwave oven not heating, only the fan runs?

Is it the microwave or the oven that is not heating? If the microwave is not heating it is more tan likely the magnetron. If the oven is not heating it could be the element or the control board.

GE Wall Oven - No heat (broil or bake)

On appliances like this only the heating elements use 220 volts. things like the clock, fan, etc use 110 volts. That is why some things work and other do not. Start at the breaker, sometimes a double pole breaker will have 1 side tripped, but will look perfectly fine. switch the breaker all the way to off then re-set. If nothing changes follow the power to the appliance remove the panel and look for some fuses, check to see if any are blown. Also sometimes the microwave will have a separate power source even though its built in to the same appliance. So that's not always a good symptom to follow.

It is possible that a relay on the control board is bad. GE has a relay in the common circuit to the bake and broil element. this has been a problem in a few ovens I have repaired. Check for this it is usually an orange relay on the board.

HI, this will require the skilled hands of a qualified GE tech. the damaged part here is the Magnetron assembly. this is a very sensitive part that creates radiation and the heating process as well. you will need to replace this device asap if possible.
