Acer Aspire laptop Model 5310-2153 Increase Ram A

I just purchased said laptop and I want to increase the ram from 1gig to 2 gigs. How do you get to the ram slots in this laptop. I know where they are but I took the screws out of the panel underneath the computer but the panel won't come loose. What is holding it?

my email address is nicks125@bellsouth.net

Thanks,

Allan Nicks

I too would like to know how to remove the cover in order to upgrade the memory. Removing the screws doesn't appear to loosen the cover.

Hi everybody! I finally managed to open the back of the computer to put in more RAM :-) .  It is several tiny hooks that is holding it from coming loose. You have to find these and bend with a knife or something to get it off. I was thinking of uploading a picture where I marked out where all the hooks were. But now when I look at the picture, my mobile-camera didn't really caught all the hooks so I can spot them directly on the picture :-P Anyway, it is possible to open the cover :-) It is quite strenuous though.

well.. I was going to do that. I took a picture in hope that I could locate the hooks afterwards.. But when I look at it now and have already screwed back the cover in place, i can't see the hooks from here :-P (And no, I will not open it again)

If you want you can see the picture yourselfe..

I can remember where one hook is located.. And I now see on the picture where three of the hooks is located. You should start with the one closest to the little symbol and end with the ones at the far left, because they are larger than the others

The memory compartment panel is insanely hard to get off. As per the pic from simphax, start to leverage the panel at the indicated starting point (I used a flat panel screwdriver) and start to work around clockwise and anti-clockwise to 'pop' the other anchor points (they're all the way around) until you finally reach the finish point in the picture. It feels like you're going to snap something as you working through it (an you probably will if you dont take it in small bites)

Hey simphax, take a pic with the back open and use pointers where the hooks are.....thanks sath

How to install memory to my Acer Aspire 570 G Notebook PC

Most laptops have a panel on the bottom of the laptop that provides access to the RAM memory slot/s. Remove this panel to reveal the RAM slot, Insert a RAM module that is the same make and model as the original one.
If your laptop has a single 512Mb RAM module then add another 512Mb of RAM to increase the total RAM to 1Gb.

I have Acer laptop Aspire 5570z module Zr1 with memory 1GB I want to increase memory 2GB or 3GB Is it possible or not What will be the expenditure?

Your laptop's RAM is upgradeable to up to 4 GB using two DDR2 533/667 MHz SODIMM modules.

So your upgrade options here are:
1. Buy a 1 GB DDR2 533/667 MHz SODIMM module & install it to get a total RAM of 2 GB (Price around US$ 25).
2. Buy a 2 GB DDR2 533/667 MHz SODIMM module & install it to get a total RAM of 3 GB (Price around US$ 45).

I have an Acer Aspire 7540-1284 laptop that came with 3GB memory. The specs say expandable to 4GB but the manual says expandable to 8GB using soDimm modules. I can't find info anywhere to support...

it prolly has 2 ram slots, capable of holding a 4gig ram stick apiece- for a total of 8 gigs.

however, the largest ram stick they currently make is 2 gigs. your board can support 2x4gigs of ram (8 altogether), buit the most ram you can currently purchase is 2x2gigs (for 4 gigs altogether).

additionally, you have to have a 64 buit version of windows to regognize all 8 gigs if you had them.
a 32 bit version of windows will recognize no more than 4 gigs of ram.

I have an Acer Aspire L 3600 that has 1gig ram, I want to increas it to 2 gig. I went on to crucial web site and purchased the one they advised. Tried putting it in and it will not boot. Put old ram back...

The last thing i can see being a problem is that you may have bought high densiy ram and the computer can not take that. High density is lets say 16 Mb of ram on 8 chips, Where as low density will have 16 chips for 16 Megs of ram. It gets complicated but this is the best way I can describe this. Most computers cannot take high density.

Do you know what kind you got?

Upgrade for acer aspire 4315

Hi, best and fastest way to increase your laptop speed is upgrading RAM to 4 Gigs, using 2x2Gb RAM modules like this one (UK seller).
Adding a bigger hard drive won't increase laptop speed, but will give you more space to store your files.
Another way to speed up a computer is using CPU overclocking, but this operation, good on old computers, is not worth on a computer with new CPU like yours.
On you tube also some user posted videos on how to upgrade chips on motherboard of old Acer aspire, but I suggest not trying this, as risk to destroy laptop is very high, and it is generally not worth.
Better to stick with traditional upgrades.

More ram for my laptop

Never, NEVER buy a computer that is going to run Vista with less than 1Gig minimum!
2 Gigs of RAM is recommended for Vista.
To check on prices and the type check some online sites that sell memory

Most laptops have a removable door or hatch on the bottom where you can access the memory very easily. The modules easily clip in or out but never use force! (RTFM)
If you take it to someone, they'd probably charge $50 for labour, plus parts and the job takes 5 minutes.

Easily do it yourself, or find a teenager who's good with computers. Son, nephew, neighbour perhaps?

Before buying any new modules, check your laptop to see how many slots you have and what type of modules are in there now.
To upgrade to 2 Gig,  you will have to buy 2 new 1Gig modules, There's a 2Gig kit (1Gigx2) listed at one site for $80.

You would remove you current memory and install the 2 new 1Gig modules. Sell your 512 or make a keychain from it.
