Acer Aspire laptop Model 5310-2153 Increase Ram A (by 6 users)

posted by Nicks125 on Dec 01, 2007

I just purchased said laptop and I want to increase the ram from 1gig to 2 gigs. How do you get to the ram slots in this laptop. I know where they are but I took the screws out of the panel underneath the computer but the panel won't come loose. What is holding it?

my email address is nicks125@bellsouth.net

Thanks,

Allan Nicks

I too would like to know how to remove the cover in order to upgrade the memory. Removing the screws doesn't appear to loosen the cover.

Hi everybody! I finally managed to open the back of the computer to put in more RAM :-) .  It is several tiny hooks that is holding it from coming loose. You have to find these and bend with a knife or something to get it off. I was thinking of uploading a picture where I marked out where all the hooks were. But now when I look at the picture, my mobile-camera didn't really caught all the hooks so I can spot them directly on the picture :-P Anyway, it is possible to open the cover :-) It is quite strenuous though.

well.. I was going to do that. I took a picture in hope that I could locate the hooks afterwards.. But when I look at it now and have already screwed back the cover in place, i can't see the hooks from here :-P (And no, I will not open it again)
If you want you can see the picture yourselfe..

I can remember where one hook is located.. And I now see on the picture where three of the hooks is located. You should start with the one closest to the little symbol and end with the ones at the far left, because they are larger than the others
