I'm getting a rainbow tint on the upper 1/5th of

I have a Toshiba 56" 56HM66 DLP TV. I've had the TV for 3 years. I believe the average life of lamps are 4,000 hrs which seems about right. I'm getting a rainbow tint on the upper 1/5th of the TV so I'm guessing the life of the lamp is about done. Thoughts?

Usually when the lamp is going out the picture gets dark if you are getting a rainbow tint most likely the light engine is going bad.

Picture is getting darker

Many of these DLP sets the picture gets darker right before the lamp fails.

Average life of the lamp is 2,000 hours----about 1 to 2 years of normal use.

If the lamp has not been replaced for a long time it is first suspect in this case.

Let me know if you have questions.

Well...it will be about 5 years now with this tv....2nd bulb....was 2,000......ends up costing 2250....and counting...id buy another tv ....but to buy a bulb is simply cheaper....short end

I can't believe a lamp would cost that much. I service LCD and DLP projectors and the cost of lamp range between 250 to 500 max. Lamps will lose alot of life if they are turned on and off alot. The mfg's rate the life of a lamp if it is turned on and remain on till they burn out. THe lamp is given a high voltage when they start. This cuts the life down. Try searching for lamps to see if you can find a cheaper price online.

While watching tv a moment ago the screen began to fade and now the picture has a blue green tint to all the colors. I have a Samsung DLP tv

Hi,do you hear buzzing, whirling or high pitch sounds? if you do it could be an issue with the color wheel If the TV have the infamous blinking lights problem and you're replaced your lamp without success, it's most likely a problem with your color wheel. The Samsung color wheels spin anywhere from 6,000 to 15,000 revolutions per minute (RPM’s)--It is one of the few consumable parts in your Samsung TV. The average life expectancy from our data logging shows the Samsung color wheels are fairly reliable with a MEAN average of 5-8 years .It could also be the DMD board this is how it works:http://electronics.howstuffworks.com/dlp1.htm One simple way to test if it is the DMD board it's to display thew menu,if menu is also affected that for sure what it is.God bless you!

14 MONTH OLD TOSHIBA TURNS OFF BY ITSELF

I repair a lot of these and a average tv lasts like 3 years . It is not like the old days. I suspect the lamp or fans or therm protector.

I would call a local tv shop see what they charge for estimate it might be worth his estimate to find out what it is.

Thanks doctor video
