Your panels are dying.
Well more to the point the driver tabs that run the panel are dying and are not going to be cheap to repair for either case.

For the stand alone LCD, it is cheaper to get another one.
For the laptop, find a laptop on Ebay or similar with a dead motherboard and swap out the screens, also gives you spare parts for the laptop. If you goto a repair shop and get a screen it will cost you as much as a new laptop.

Thanks. I went ahead and bought a new one. Not worth the hassle to send it back for replacement.

SOURCE: red line on monitor of dell laptop

You may want to try another video cable. If that not it then you may want to open the OSD (On Screen Display) menu and see if it goes over that. If it dose you may have to get service from Viewsonic. If not then you may want to try the monitor on another computer to make sure its not traveling with the monitor.

SOURCE: Vertical red line on HP w2207 monitor

Please try to connect the monitor to another PC, if problem still exist then probably there's an internal problem in the circuit board of your monitor wherein an elecronic part/s might be cold soldered / defective. I recommend to bring the monitor to an authorized HP service center to fix the problem. If the monitor display is good if connected to other PC, then your previous PC should be checked if the VGA card (if there is any) is properly placed to its slot & working properly as well as it cables & connections. regards

SOURCE: LCD monitor have Vertical lines and black colour become greenish

normally the 19" resolution can support up to 1280*1024, but if it comes with vertical lines in full screen, it might indicate the panel is no longer to work and probably it's time to replace new one.

How to get rid of main menu on my hanns-g hw173d that keeps on popping. help me to solve this please

It's not a very good solution, but you can open the monitor and disconnect the button-panels plug on the mainboard. Afterwards the buttons don't work any more (surprise) but the control panel disappears.

My compaq monitor just start blinking and now only haft past of the screen is visible. the rest just went black with on bright shining line on the middle of the screen

Your monitor have problem with vertical deflection section. Can caused by the faulty vertical driver IC and faulty electrolytic capacitor it the vertical section or dry soldering in the pins of the vertical driver IC. When vertical section fails horizontal lines come on the screen. For testing the same you have to open the monitor and remove the main board. you can easily find out the vertical ic. just follow the four wire running from the deflection yoke ( coil on the crt neck) of which two will go to the horizontal section (normally red and blue wire) and two will go to the vertical section ( Normally yellow and green wire). Follow the yellow and green wire which will be connected to one of the socket in the main board. Follow the circuit track in the main board which will lead you to the vertical deflection section. There you can see one ic is fitted on a aluminium heat sink.Take a close watch in soldering of its leads. Dry soldiering can happen in its leads because its a component which will got to a temperature about 75 degree above at its normal working condition. if found any dry-soldering or not just resolder all the pins of that ic. then check the monitor. If problem remains then you have to relapse the ic.While replacing the ic try to relapse all the capacitors in that section. It will prevent from any further damage to the new vertical ic. if you need any more assistance feel free to contact me through fixya

Blue vertical line appears down left hand side of screen. I thought "dead pixels" but sometimes the line is gone and the screen is back to normal. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks, John.

It will be one of two things, the video cable from the computer to the monitor, if you can detach both ends, sub another cable, failing that the problem lies in the main board that is attached to the LCD panel and where the video is processed and viewed on the display. Unfortunately to repair this type of problem will exceed the amount for a new monitor.

My Hanns.g monitor 1080P HDM1 has a power problem, when it's turned on either by the power switch or when it's activated by the keyboard, it flashes on & off several times & then goes off, playing...

nfleurat, If nothing wrong with the "on"/"off" switch, then must be the "switch-mode-power-supply"/"CCFL inverter supply" circuit card inside of unit. Look for a possible "thermally intermittant solder connection" and then resolder it. Also, inspect unit for possible "swollen" electrolytic filter capacitors on power supply board. Read more of my responses to other owners in my FIXYA profiles for more options you can use to solve your LCD display problem. 12fixlouie aka louie12fix Good luck on the repair.

It's seems you got a busted panel. Repaied gonna cost you a bundles... Just get a new one instead. But you can bouble checked by open the back cover and look for any lose cable from the AD board... Try unplugged the cable with a wide connector and look for any bended pins... Have a nice day!
