I've just updated the drivers but cannot get the screen to accept 1280*1024 setting and sets itself to 800*600 instead.

- My problems was that the PKR website, (poker), stopped me from playing saying that the drivers were outdated and that i had to update them. So, i didn't have any choice really.
reinstall the vga driver ...probably it isnt the right one ...in worse case let it without driver and windows will take this resolution ..but you will have a poor quality ....its not about the monitor driver but about the video-card driver...so you have to know what card you have and reinstall the driver to fix the problem ...

- graphic card drivers are required for a better 3 d image ...and the driver you say its easy to find ..and I do not recomand to update it ...just use the original ode that came with the card...to be sure that this is the card you pretend you have ...just install the Everest ultimate ..and make a hardware analyze...it will let ya see what ya have into your pc ...and for some os it will install the drivers automatically by the way sometimes hardware or software chamges just modify the limits of your resolutions..so if you changed the monitor recently ..probably the new one do not support this resolution or its just an error and will be fixed after a new installing

I saw somewhere someone posted a "solution" involving changing a blown capacitor on the monitor mainboard. Not about to attempt it myself though ;-)
